So I finally did it. Those of you who know me know I was always a fan of MH lighting.Well after making numerous trips to my friend Feng's LFS (Red Sand Aquarium) and watching him convert all of the tanks in his store to the new 2w LED pendants that he is the exclusive importer of I decided to try them out. I was impressed by the color and growth he was having with the new lights and the fact that heat is a non issue was awesome. The fixture has 25 2w white LED's and 30 1w blue LED's and when turned on together it looks similar to having a 14k mh bulb without the heat and costly replacement bulbs. After hanging the fixture over my 45g cube I turned on the blues, WOW! I saw my corals in a totally different way and seen colors that I didn't even think they had. Then I turned on the whites and I could not believe how bright they are! He told me they would be comparable to having 400w of MH but I was skeptical, he was right. I was previously running a single 250w 14k mh pendent and the new LED fixture was much brighter, so much that I had to raise the fixture so I don't shock my corals. Its only been a few days and I will be keeping a close eye on things but so far I'm VERY impressed. I've taken some pics but my camera sucks and it is really hard to see how great the color of my corals are.

Very nice Lenny!
I know that is the 45g Marineland tank - what are te measurements of the fixture and are they comparably priced to the other LED fixtures out there? Does it have a dimmer?

Thanks Kathy, the fixture measures 16" long by 8 1/2" wide. The fixture retails for $400 but he will take $50 off each additional unit, I also got 2 free frags of my choice ;). The best part is that the units come with a 2yr warranty and all repairs are done "in house" at his store in NJ so you will not have to wait months if you need a repair. Also the fixture does not have a dimmer but there are separate cords for the blue and the whites so you can have a dawn to dusk effect.

wow those leds look nice, and i totaly know what you mean, i got the ai sol led lamp from aquailluminations.com and its definitely worth the 600 bucks , this thing is only 12 inches by 7 inches or maybe a bit less and with only 8 pucks each holding 2 blue and 1 white i have plenty of power to provide adequate lighting and my acan coral loves it as much as my hammer coral its definitely worth it just for the fully customizeable remote control. if anyone wants a nice compact led setup this is the way to go!!!! leds pay for themselves.

i have a pic of mine in my images if anyone wants to see.

u have model number, i want to get the par ratings... how does it compare to ecoray 112D?
Hey stunner, unfortunately these fixtures do not have a lot of real world data to support them which is one of the reason I decided to be a guinea pig lol. I hopping to get my hands on a par meter in the next few days so I can run some of my own test ;). So far these fixtures appear to be legit and I don't need lots of fancy charts and numbers to make up my mind, to me proof is in the color and growth of the coral. So far it looks like the best $400 bucks I've ever spent in this hobby but time will tell.

i saw these fixtures in his store and they looked awsome ! he has all his sps on these fixtures and his tanks look great. i was thinking of this fixture aswell. good luck with the new fixture lenny.
Thanks Bro :). Yea that was one of the reason I went with this fixture, if it provided enough light for his show tank than surly it would be enough for my little cube ;)
