if a bulb going out, he can actually replace the bulbs unlike the older 1w versions.

Not to bring up an old thread but I am looking at going LED's. You seemed really happy with these but they were just sold and was wondering if you weren't happy with them or just decided to go a different route? Are they still available from the store you mentioned?

I'm figuring I would need 2 over a 65 correct?

In all my years in the hobby dollar for dollar these where the best lights I have ever used. Great color, no heat and very bright. I sold them cause I'm selling my tank and that is the only reason. For a 65g u will need two fixtures for sps and most lps, if doing fish only and or soft coals one fixture would do the trick.

I have been trying to get Feng to become a Vndor for over a year now on here. He simply just doesn't want to do it. And the LEDs that he uses now , you have to be careful with, as you see in those pics he has I think 13 units on hie 650 gallon tank. He has had to replace 5 of those units with brand new ones that he was unable to fix. Also he has 8 other units running in the store and had to replace a few of them as well. The first Gen units he had originally from the same manufacuter were all replaced because of to many problems. I personaly would save my money and go with a better brand Like AI. Fengs units are cheap but they are still made in China and have no name. Feng doesn't even know the name lol. Reef to Reptiles are using the same exact fixtures from Feng, That is where Greg got his Fixtures. I would personally not go with them after talking to Feng about them for several months.

You are right about one thing, I did not know where his shop was because I had my own and never had to go to his store till recently. And saying that you spew bs is far from a personal attack, you just make things up and don't know what your talking about. It actually doesnt matter to me because the lights are sold and gone but you still shouldn't make up stories.

i'm the one that showed feng where to buy his led panells the first led's that he displayed in his store were bought from me i've been running the 1 waters for over 3 years and never had a problem but then again my panels were 119 wt wile fengs were 112wt don't market that the one waters are garbage and unreliable because it's not true it all depends who manufacters the panells and coming out of chine there are over a dozen company's but i can speak that the company that produces the ones i buy are on the money because i have seen the long term use and have ordered over 30 units

This seems to be the most objective comments on the CHINA MADE grow/aquarium light thus far-it ALL depends on which manufacturer you get them from. They used very similar parts but not necessarily the same though. In electronics, there are always the "X" stock-inventory stock that a factory can buy from unknown sources or sources that know the parts that may(or may not) be bad but decided not to QC them anymore by selling them as is. Just like many online electronics parts store you will see offerings like this, "we bought 5000 Motorola touch screens of this cel phone model no. ABCD we have no instruction manuals as to wiring but if you know how, it could be a big savings." Some factories without heart will purchase these rejects anyway to make their so called new products. In the memory business, like the prom, eeprom, and such, BIG original silicon fabricators, that I don't want to name here, will sell their rejects that are known to work for only a year to two to the console game counterfeiters which I don't want to name here either. So the quality depends on who you get them from.

Thanks Kathy, the fixture measures 16" long by 8 1/2" wide. The fixture retails for $400 but he will take $50 off each additional unit, I also got 2 free frags of my choice . The best part is that the units come with a 2yr warranty and all repairs are done "in house" at his store in NJ so you will not have to wait months if you need a repair. Also the fixture does not have a dimmer but there are separate cords for the blue and the whites so you can have a dawn to dusk effect.

Hey stunner, unfortunately these fixtures do not have a lot of real world data to support them which is one of the reason I decided to be a guinea pig lol. I'm hoping to get my hands on a par meter in the next few days so I can run some of my own test . So far these fixtures appear to be legit and I don't need lots of fancy charts and numbers to make up my mind, to me proof is in the color and growth of the coral. So far it looks like the best $400 bucks I've ever spent in this hobby but time will tell.

I am an avowed LED hater (except as actinic supplementation which I love and which I have), but it's exactly this type of thread that hypes LED's which upsets me so much. I hope any newbie reading about LEDs will take the time to visit tanks lit by MH, T5, and LED before making a final choice because I for one do NOT believe that LEDs are the next "Holy Grail". They make chalices, brains, and acans glow like crazy, but they are NOT perfect and NOT proven by any means. Show me a single TOTM on any website that was started and grown completely under LEDs.

And for the record, I find this thread to be unfortunate and suspicious, but then I'm an old NY cynic and if I'm wrong I apologize but that's just my take . . .
