Many Thanks!
All,
THANK YOU! And yes, everyone is alright (including the fish Lissa)
I have to start a post tonight with pictures - it's going to be appropriately titled "How to make a grown man cry and laugh all in one sitting"
This is the first time since 9:30 last eve when it all started that I got to sigh, and relax - of course the tears came seconds after with the thoughts of what "could have been", "why didn't I's" and all the other emotions that come with tragedy like this and second guessing. Then the above quote had me gut-busting laughing. The reason why it is so funny (poignantly so) is that the lights to the fish tank were still on (they go off at 11pm) and EVERY fireman, inspector, arson investigator and policeman that walked into the house said the following:
"Where's the Fire?!"
"WoW, nice fish tank"
"Ok, Where's the fire"
And the one favorite quote of the evening from the Milwood Fire Cheif
"if it gets hotter in here, I am going to get some cocktail sauce" (for you that don't know my tan, I have 2 cleaners the size of godzilla in there)
As many of you have already said, the material things are replaceable - it's the lives and health of the family that are most important - and again all are fine.
I also want to make sure recognition and credit go where deserved. I have been around MANY life threatening emergencies and have NEVER, and I have to say it again, "NEVER" in my life, seen a more organized, well presented, courteous and professionally situated group than the Milwood and Ossining VOLUNTEER Fire Departments.
Chief, I have always respected what you guys do north of rt 287 as it's all volunteer, but am going to write a letter of thanks all the way up to the Governor - and I am , generally speaking, not the letter-writing type.
Picture to come shortly, I have to get my camera dock back online and everything was strewn about saving the HOUSE
Thanks again for all your wonderful wishes and I will definitely take you up on your offers for assistance when/if needed.
