Faux bulit in 150 (thread reborn!)!

My systems rebuild thread accidently got deleted, but we were able to find the pages on googles cache (thanks Len!). With a bunch of massaging and finding images on my drives, I was able to rebuilt the thread. Currently, its hosted on my site, but looks just like RDO, and all of the links should work so you should be able to navigate to all the threads pages. If we can figure out some spiffy way to get it back on RDO completely we'll do that.

A summary of the system:

150 gallon faux sand bed built in show tank with two 1.5 inch dursos in the back corner overflows, 180 sump/farm, 50 gallon equipment tank, and 20 gallon Remote Sand Bed - for a total volume of about 300 gallons.
Lit by 2 48 inch super actinic VHO, and two double single ended Lumenarc's, each with a 250 watt 10 K and a 400 watt 20 K.
ASM G4X skimmer, DIY Kalk reactor, Ca Reactor with pinpoint controller, GFO reactor, macro chamber, and sometimes an ozone generator.
Circulation: Tunze 6200 behind the rock work, 2 MJ 1200 behind rock work, a Modded MJ 1200 in the back left corner facing the front right corner, AM3K return, Sequence 5800 closed loop to a 10 port loc line manifold, and a Titanium pump CL running spray bars across the bottom back of the tank.

I thought it was kicking something two months ago as well. When I read things like this it sure makes me glad that I based my tank on this system. It is more than the brain can absorb in one mere visit.

BTW, the link does work for the old thread and all of the pages come up nice and quick.

You dont have to thank me for telling the truth. Your tank is awesome and you don't have to be modest about it.

I may come down in August to pick up a new tank. At first glance in Seattle pricing, it may not be too much more to drive my truck down and pick up a tank in the bay area.
I know, it sounds rediculous but my wife is driving anyway and if you add up the savings on the tank, the little bit extra in gas..... You get the point.
Also, I have a power inverter and could set up a tank to bring back some colonies and have an excuse to come over for another visit.

I am in the process of putting in new 20 K 400 watt bulbs and it makes me crazy! The new bulbs are way brighter than the old ones, so I raised the lumenarcs up several inches and cut a piece of cardboard to stop light going in the tank so I can leave the new bulbs on longer to allow them to burn it. So far, they have been burning about 7 hours (3 or 4 on the tank and the rest on the cardboard) and I am trying to decide how log I should try to burn them in. They used to run for 8 hours a day, so I'll start with 3 and ramp them up.

So the Linkia is simply a sacrificial food item for your Harliquin shrimp that deal with... asterina starfish?

Nope, I always have to feed my Harly's. The Linkia was what was either cheap or sick.

Are you going with different 400W bulbs this time? I went with 20k XMs on my tank but they don't seem to be as blue as yours. How long do they take to burn in, btw?

I went with the 20 K again, though I have 15 ks sitting around.
They took at least 20 hours to burn in, but I am not sure. I rand them for 20 hours at least blocked by cardboard.

I hate changing bulbs. I do think I waited too long because the new bulbs were way brighter than the old ones. I think I will either get a par meter, and look for a 20 % drop or change the bulbs every 6-9 months.
