The actinics (2 x 75W URI Super Actinic VHOs). Reflector is polished aluminum and I'm using acrylic lamp holders (both purchased at Marine Depot). The actinics are angled towards the opposite sides of the tank thanks to Entamacea making me some angled wedges :) Stainless steel screws mount the reflector to the wedges, and the wedges are mounted to the canopy via wood glue and more stainless steel screws.

A closer view of the angled mounts. I stained them to match the canopy. Yes, I have OCD ;)

Here's a Icecap 250W electronic ballast in the Icecap ballast box. These will sit on top of the canopy.

Another pic of the MH ballast. I bypassed the on/off switch since I'm going to control these on my Aquacontroller anyhow, so I saw no need to add an additional (rather cheap) relay in the circuit. Fully insulated quick-slides used on the lamp side connector. The power cord is directly attached to the ballast via nylon butt splice connectors shrouded by heat shrink. All proper grounds used.

Thanks for the kind words.

Ben, I got the foam at Mcmastercarr (9107T11 for 1", 9107T12 for 2"). It's a little pricey but I know it will hold up against saltwater. I had other foam in my 120g and they worked fine, but when you got it went, it would soak up the water.

Well, having run the 250W for a few hours now, I'm not convinced they're bright enough for my tastes. They certainly aren't dim, but the 400 watters I had on were MUCH brighter. I will give those a try again. Hopefully my eyes will get used to it ;) The 400W were extremely bright and caused eye fatigue. Maybe I'll give the Aquaconnect or Reeflux a try.

I think you should be worried about posting pictures of those frags you just got...enough of the boring stuff! :P

BTW, I may have missed it, but I don't think you stated what you were thinking of stocking, fish-wise...what ya gonna get? Interruptus? Gem tang? Rhomboid?

Peace,

Chip

Hey desertfish:
I got the foam at Mcmastercarr (9107T11 for 1", 9107T12 for 2"). It's a little pricey but I know it will hold up against saltwater. I had other foam in my 120g and they worked fine, but when you got it went, it would soak up the water.

Chip, here's my crazy list:
Zebrasoma rostratum
Zebrasoma gemmatum (big maybe)
pair of Rhomboid wrasses
pair of C.earlei wrasses
pair of N.helfrichi firefish
my current cap clown
my current swalesi wrasse
aiming for a pair of Genicanthus personatus 8O

No dwarf angels for me anymore. Only Genicanthus. I can't tolerate the constant coral picking ;)
