MAJOR POWER OUTAGE HITS NY, TORONTO, CLEVELAND, OTTAWA, ETC

My power was out for 18 hours. A couple of cheap battery operated air pumps saved the day. A single D battery was plenty to run it (past testing showed it would last 5 days).

I couldn't get home to save my tank myself because I had to work all night(23 hours). I had my wife add on my battery powered backup pumps(which I was supposed to do when I moved the 55 into the 125 gallon). Fortunately, my power was back at midnight. I wasn't able to see the tank until 1 pm the next day. Everything was okay. Temp was good(82* in the basement). My backup is now in place and I do not really fear another outage.

Oh, and also. I lost my power for 27 hours. But I didn't lose a thing, because I had a 140watt power inverter plugged into my car and ran an extension cord to the tank. I was able to run a Rio 2100 for the main tank and a small power haed for the refugium. Everything looks great now.
So yesterday I went to Circuit City to see about getting a more powerfull inverter so if in the event that this happens again I did be able to run a few more things, and they had a 400Watt inverter for $69.
In my opinin a great investment. I was so happy when my power came back on and everthing looked fine that I kissed the thing.

We lost power for 25 hours.......I did not lose anything. I did nothing to it. It is a 100 gallon Fish/Invert....no corals.

What is amazing about this issue is that some engineers somewhere in Illinois or somewhere made a quick call to shut down a huge section of the grid. If they had not done that we would have lost power on the entire east coast through Denver! Can you imagine being one of those guys? Talk about pressure!

You win the satisfaction in knowing something that 700 million other people know, but only 25 thousand or so of those 700 million are American. 290 million American's think it is Jordon or Tiger or some other football star.

As for his pay, I do believe that he is the top paid athelete as well (including endorsements). When you come to think about it, there is a direct correlation to how well known you are (not necessarily liked, though) and the endorsement $ you get, especially in that sport.

Any more news on the cause of blackouts? I don't watch the news, so am totally uninformed.
