That is exactly my point. I just had a whole lot of masonary work done on the fornt of my house, using brick, pavers and natural stone. You can see a powdry white residue seeping out of the brick. My mason told me that it will do this for the next year or so when it rains.

well, to be safe I might epoxy/plastic weld, the rods into the heavy base rocks. when I remove the rocks I can always cut the rod off the rocks.

You are talking about different kind of "cure"..

You need "cure" cement based products to neutralize the PH before putting them in the tank.

In addition to this, the color of these pavers are done by adding dye to the cement mix. Obviously if you use the 'cement colored' ones you needn't worry as much. However, the pavers in Sanjay's pictures look like they are a colored paver.

All in all, I think Jon's plan to use a larger piece of 'base' rock as the foundation is a great idea.

update :(

2 weeks ago the bag of phosban got sucked into a pump because the protien skimmer was moved and half the water went down the drain on the balcony

today I spent a couple of hours scrubbing the orange phosban/rust off the rocks. they are now in a new container of water with a quiet one 4000.

I'm going to give them a week then check the Po4 levels. I will also give them time to cycle again.

sorry, there won't be any new tank pics for a while.

Jon, phosban is one of those mixed blessing products. When it works, there's nothing like it. When there's a mishap, things can turn tragic almost instantly.

Good luck with the cleanup. We'll wait for the next cycle to finish for more pix.

after another three water changes and a reactor filled with phosban and GAC, and the Rocks are now ready :splitspin

I got a 0 reading on the po4 and the no2 kits, the no3 is showing about a .2 but I can live with that.

I will go buy some rods tomorrow and then aquascape this weekend.

of course I ran out of salt :arg: perfect timing.
