dont bother 4 they'll delete those negative inputs. can we protest to the city consumer affairs and have their aquarium license revoked/suspended?
Thats not entirely true, the posts on the main Petco's FB page are still there. I think a complaint to DCA is a good idea, if anyone know the procedure to submit a group complaint let us know. I will take a look at their site later today.

The only difference between petco an 90% of the local stores is that these fish are left in play view and not treated or humanely euthanized.

Petco has standards and procedures in place that are terrible and it's a result of Low paid workers (most whom) lack knowledge or not given the tools to treat or fix these type of situations.

Ever work in fish retail? Buy fish from suppliers, visit suppliers or order fish?

I'm not saying that something should not be done but this is nothing compared to what goes on. Ever see thousands of fish doa?

Write them and demand a follow up. Record all of your attempts and demand that this is changed.

i worked in the chain for a while--voluntarily for I'm still working in intl trade and fish trade is part--sure very minute part--of intl trade

i tried to open my own fish store--totally a dream--but i did visit some collectin facilities in indonesia+malaysia

sadly the scenes were bad, very bad

for a bigger scope, we probably can think about a campaign like blood diamond program to boycott those abusive collectors, traders, dealers, retailers...

not really. plenty of us great reefers that can keep these beautiful fish alive. its these big box stores that are killing these fish because there tanks have every disease and parasite you can imagine.

And remember what you do for a living rich :)

The demand for Saltwater tropical fish is the reason why these fish die in the first place. Sugar coat it all you want, WE are the reason why that yellow tang is in that tank.

Obviously everyone is not going to stop collecting fish for their saltwater tanks, so the best thing we can do is spread the proper information to hobbyists to keep their fish healthy, and I guess reporting/bashing poor LFS's such as PETCO can only help as well :).
We might as well start bashing the show "tanked". These guys do damage!!!!

Agreed about spreading info to other hobbyist, this is a great site to educate yourself and help out others. Though I wouldn't refer to petco as "poor". I believe actual mom and pop LFS not only will point you in a better direction but would take care of the fish better (at least most do). You are right about the demand part as well, I think that pretty soon most of our live stock will be tank bread, most of the clownfish are tank bread. Recently read an article that some have had success breeding tangs. It's a matter of time when more specimens are bread in captivity. So in a way we are making sure that some species do not go instinct. Not that this gives any right or pass to neglect animals, as specially when you are doing this for a leaving.
