While we have the capable guys on the board - is glasscages a good maker of tanks or would I be better off getting an oceanic? I am planing on a 72x30x36high....

DO NOT GET AN OCEANIC TANK!

I've read horror stories recently of them busting.

Glass cages makes very strong but decent looking tanks, I got one and I'm happy with it.

It depends what you want to spend, in the long run if you have the money their are some kick a$$ tank makers out there that can make some incredible looking tanks. miracles in glass is one of them.

I dont want to get a shitty tank but I dont want to spend too much on the tank itself. Glasscages is acceptable for me in price. Good to hear that they are good also. I do want to spoend on all the other equipment. I just got the skimmer deltec turbo1060/s. Crazy looking thing. I have seen the thing perform. I did a lot of research on that. I needed something powerful that was not 6 feet high. I want everything under the stand...

I would go with Oceanic, actually i did. I am very happy with my Oceanic tank they have a good rep.

I wouldnt make the tank 36" high, i was gonna do that myself till ppl told me that it would be a PITA as you will not be able to reach all the way in the tank when you need to. better off limiting it to 30" high, i didn and i dont regret it. it is also hard to get strong enough lighting that deep.

I'm gonna have to come check it out one day. I wanna see these lumenarcs in action.
BBQ & beer baby!!!!!!! I should have it all within September hopefully..... Got a great view of the city here too. And cause the fire chief lives two doors down we can have bonfires here too.
A buddy of mine has the lumenarcs - huge - but awesome performance. He put in the 14k and the lighting is just incredible....

I have monkeyarms but you do bring a good point with the lighting... I dont want to end up with 1000 watt halides. That would kill me

hey albert,

I don't want to jinx you, but I've read some threads on RC lately of oceanics busting apart, I hope that NEVER happens to you. It happened to one person twice, ouch.

The one thing I like about glass cages is they will do anything you want, as many holes where ever. The guy is a bit of a challenge to deal with. I was nice to him and he built me a great tank. he's like the soup nazi on seinfeld, if you piss him off somehow it's "no tank for you" kind of funny but he does not care.
