I'm starting this thread to share my experiences with these clowns and for others to share theirs... (GLE) Genetic Limited Edition, just a little joke...
I transported mines just like everyone's were transported in a bucket with a air stone, in a warm vehicle. I did have one exception, I already had about 1.5 gallons of my display tanks water in the bucket prior to the 2 hours I spent talking with some members here at the swap about care of the new genetic wonder of the clown fish world and 2.5 hour trip home..I got my clowns home yesterday at about 5pm from the swap... Netted them and placed them in the tank after making sure that the lights wouldn't come on for an extra 2 hours... They separated for a good 5 hours as my lights were just coming on when I reached home at 5.. About 2 hours before the lights went out at midnight they came together and even ate some pellets(spectrum), lol...
These are my first clowns and I have some major decisions to make.. I have to decide if I want an anemone for these fish in my 320 gallon total water volume SPS dominated, low nutrient system.. After speaking with some of the (experienced)members here I have to wonder if (A) I add an anemone now that they are hanging out with each other, will one decide that it wants the anemone to itself and there for making the pair stop hanging out? (B) Will the anemone survive in a low nutrient system??? So the research goes on. For now I will go with my 10+ years experience in this hobby and watch closely as the days go by... I already tackled the first couple of hurdles, acclimation to new water with a 5 hour trip in my water mixed with the water from their old tank, acclimation to new tankmates without aggression done in the night cycle, and feeding..
This is only one days observation though, so all that has gone on so far may be nothing,,lol.. i will be up dating the thread on a weekly basis.. This should be a fun project... I finally have Nemos my daughter said to me yesterday,,,lol..
