I'm very interested in these fixtures and have a few questions. Will this enable me to get rid of my T5VHO's and MH lamps? My tank is a 120 with the following dimensions 60x18x26. What do they cost and how many would I need? My total wattage now is 840 watts and would love to have control of the lighting at my fingertips and save some on the electric bill. Thanks

for your 120 gal you'll need 2 120 BT ex units I also have a 120 gal. The control is very nice I like how u can control how white and how blue you want your tank! Currently in my tank I am running (2) 250 watt HQI and (4) 54 watt t5's bring a total of 716 total wattage. With the Pacific Sun LEDs 2 units only uses 240 total watts big difference, I can't wait to get my lights!

When are you expected to get yours? I'll be looking forward to see how they work on your set since it is similar to mine.

Based on my own experience with a 100x50x50 cm tank (with 2x120w Pacific Sun units) I would say you?ll need 3 x 120w units for a SPS dominated tank. If you don?t mind darker areas in your tank and have a lot of softies/LPS you could give it a try with only two units.

i see that you can control the color manually but is there a way to set it so that it cycles through the color AND intensity between sunrise and sunset?
You can control intensity during the day thru PAR programming where you?re able to set intensity in 40 intervals/day.
Color you can?t control automaticly.

got mine today woo... just confirming these steps that Rafal put in the other thread:
a) connect lamp to the bluetooth first
b) download software and install it
c) set the time on the application
d) enjoy the lamp

this still what everyone is doing?
thanks!

According to Polish users - External bluetooth interface works better than built-in (laptop, Pda, mobile etc.) Use "Bluetooth USB-Dongle" if possible

Windows Vista sometime has a problem with correct data transmission. There is no problem with XP and 7

This seems to be true.
My netbook has built in Bluetooth and it assigns the same com port to both lamps no matter if you power each light module individually for the Bluetooth to detect the device. In this case, you need to go through an additional tedious step by disconnecting one light from your Bluetooth place and connecting the other to control a different light module. No issues if you are only running one light module.

But as azazel stated, an external Bluetooth USB device works perfect. It detects multiple lamps and assigns different com ports to each light module.

IO gear Bluetooth 2.1 USB Micro Adapter cost $20 at Walmart. Has a 30ft max range.

One major flaw is that some of us-- actually many of us-- own Mac's and thus have no ability to use the software and thus no control at all. :irked:
Use boot camp to re-partition the drive and make the new partition useable for windows and install windows on the new partition. I'm running vista on my mac and it runs circles around vista on a PC. FYI, if you go this route use boot camp not other software like parallels VM because it's too easy to wipe out your machine when using VM software.

Boot camp will work just fine but there will be an OSX version available to those that can wait.

To those that experience software bugs, the programmers are working hard to fix these. Look for a newer version to release.

BTW, Good job on the MR iPhone app Josh!

Sunrise is the time the light starts to ramp up, Sunset is the time you want the light to start it's ramp down and not the time you want the lamp actually off :duh:

So I have the Sunrise/Sunset option for 60 minutes but it's only counting down to 30 minutes and then off, anyone figure this out yet?

I'll try 59 minutes to see if it is a glitch since 60 minutes is the max setting.

if you try to set your sunset past midnight - lets say 1am - it will not work. the way the software is written, it must stay within the same 24hrs of the day. so if you want to check it now - adjust the clock to say 10pm and than set the sunset to begin at 10:05pm for 60 minutes.

I have both my lamps on 60 and it turns to moonlight on the spot after 60 minutes.

I had my option set to 60 minutes at 2300 and it turned off and into moonlight mode at 2330. Maybe as you stated since 60 minutes would have brought the time to 00:00.
I'll try 2259 for the 60 minutes and see if that'll do the trick, thanks Rafal.

Are the fans supposed to be running also during moonlight period....I would like to be able to shut them down automatcly when moonlight comes on. I really don?t need the noise and it?s waste of energy since the units when running moonlights hardly need too be cooled.
Did I miss something??

I will try to explain, as well as I can due to my english.

00:00 is a first minute of next day, so you can not set "00:00" as sunset "begin" time.
Sunset time is the time of begin the lamp is shutting down it must be set and end before 00:00.

The only way to watch sunset after 00:00 is like Rafal stated - shift the system time.

leifkrarup - no you didn't. They stated that with new firmware it will be changed too. Fans speed will be changing "live" depends of internal radiator temperature.
