I just love when both sides of a conflicting story let their 'voices' be heard here on Manhattan Reefs. :argue: It brings to light how members not involved might want to wait to hear both sides. Thanks Sarah & Richard.

Now if by some reason, either want to continue the discussion, feel free to use Manhattan Reefs' convenient PM function. :D

I've only had good experiences. The first time I went to Seavision, I bought a derasa. It was dead the next morning, so I called the place. I was told if I brought back the clam I would be given half credit...this was OK with me...I can understand a store's position..there is no telling what a customers tank parameters are, or how they acclimated it...some places might have just said "tough luck". At any rate, I realized that I wouldn't be able to bring it back for awhile...called again, and was told there was no problem. When I came back 2 weeks later, the salesperson told me that Rich wasn't there...he tried for a long time to reach him, and apologized, saying he wasn't really authorized to give the refund, but he'd hold on to the clam and make a note. When I finally made it back, 2 weeks later, Rich was there and I got my credit right away. I also picked up another derasa, 10 times better looking...its already grown substantially in the month I've had it. Everything else I've bought...a crocea, yellow tang, ocellaris clown, and tuxedo urchin are thriving. I've also only had the best service, and the staff- when I was there- was always knowledgable. Take care, Eric

I've had good customer services also. however,
i've brought a pair of dispar anthias. n was re-affirmed thats what i got after i had question that the female dispar may not look like that. now the female is here.

not looking for any refund/exchange/sympathy/bashin/sale/trade
just stating the facts

Also I was told MR discount of 10% off only applies to total sales equal to or greater than $80.

note: I am still a returning customer

Hello Sarah and Kevin...

This is Richard from SeaVision Inc. I recall the day you came in and purchased the Tunze magnet float a month ago. I would like to set straight, if you came the next day after the purchase with the receipt, a full credit would have been given to you. I do remember suggesting the Tunze magnet to you as opposed to paying $15.00 for a magfloat. You asked me which magnet was better, and I suggested that they are both good but the Tunze magnet float is a little better due to a more powerful magnet and more surface area coverage. Not to mention a reputable name brand. (Made in Germany)

The question of the magnet being able to float never came up. I'm not saying he said, she said... just don't post erroneous information on this board. You came in yesterday asking for a return with no receipt a month later asking for store credit? I believe my employee did the right thing telling you that without a receipt or proof of purchase, a return is not possible. Sarah and Kevin, no disrespect... There is no need to lie. I know you remember walking in here a month ago talking with me, Sharn, and kenny from MR when you bought that item. I agree that another LFS is better for you guys.

I'm confused when you say "Tunze magnet FLOAT". I don't believe they advertise as floatable. Not the ones I have seen anyway. If you phrased it that way to "sarahandkevin", I can see how he/she/they would think it floats:rolleyes: . In your post you referrence "Tunze Magnet Float" twice, so...........?

I'm just sayin':ANYWORD:

Well, one of the things Sarahandkevin indicated is that the magnet came with a string...IMO that in itself would have indicated to me it doesn't float...a floatable magnet with a string??? All the floatable magnets I have purchased didn't come with a string, yet all regular/sinkable magnets I have purchased did come with a string...just common sense I guess. Please note that I am not putting anyone down here

Ronster: You are correct about the "string" issue (it was the 1st thing I thought), but Sarah is new to the hobby and this may have been the first magnet she needed to buy.

Hey i might live in this store (i live 5 blocks away). The young long hair guy(Jon). Been a customer since they have been open. Use to buy from FishTown USA but never had luck with their fish (but known ppl who kept them with no problem). Other then mail order and Northern Aquarium Seavision keeps a number of healthy fish. Not too many times you have to see a stiff in the tanks.

i noticed if you buy a good looking coral or fish at the store more then likely its going to grow well (my exp. with them).

Its nice when you go into a store and they remember what kind of set up you have.

Im due a visit.

I've only been to Sea Vision once and had a good experience. I picked up a bunch of frags, a large finger coral, and a star fish. The salesperson was helpful and everything is doing well. It's understandable that a customer gets peeved if they have the impression that they were taken but then again a LFS isn't a high margin business and a few livestock losses and customer returns can kill it. Until I get a few bad experiences with them, I will be going back because they have nice livestock, the store is very comfortable, and the prices are a heck of a lot better than New World.

I would also like to comment on SeaVision. I've been going there for some time now and i also live in the neighborhood. I've become quite friendly with the owner Richie. He always has nice stuff in his shop and is always willing to give advice...His staff is great and I wish them much success.....
