You would be 100% right about having a short cycle with already cured LR but the shrimp will make it a normal one :) The harder the cycle the more bacteria you have to handle bioload. A small hippo and yellow tang should be just fine. You can treat them for ich in the QT before your tank is ready to go (no copper in DT as I am pretty sure you know, just checking). Sounds LIke a plan to me.

This is a follow up to our coversation lastnight about your overflow boxes. Im not suggesting you buy boxes from glassholes or anyone else. im suggestion you add bracing.

I hope this picture will help to show you what my concern is. maybe you did understand and thats fine too, it just didnt seem like you did.

ok yea i see what you mean. the tank has bracing around it. are you saying it needs more on the glass? and how long you you think it would last with corner overflows.

im not saying to brace the tank.

you make the overflow 4 sides like the picture from lastnight. the two inside pieces prevent it from collapsing in.

the orange arrows represnt the direction the box could collapse. the red lines are the two missing walls of the overflow box, that im suggesting you add

ohhhh this whole time you had my heart racing and thinking what i could do lol. i thought you meant the tank would start leaking and collapse. the boxes. i really dont think i can add more sides but ill see if one of these days while im waiting for the ctcle to be over. ill put like a reinforcement or something to keep pressure off the box. yea the boxes, im not really worried if they break in the future. i was just terrified of the tank breaking. but yea ill se what i can do.

right now i have a quiet-one 3000 pump about 730gph but with all the head pressure i think im getting about 350-500 gph. im thinking of getting a mag 18 which is 1,800 gph. is this good enough for the 125 and im thinking a 20 gallon extra high or 30 gallon high seahorse tank for the future. i added an open port in the plumbing to whenever i want to add the tank in the future. is 1,800 gonna be enough for both? with head pressure im not sure what that would be with both valves open though.
