when i start a new tank, and there is nothing in it, i just dump in the approximate amount of salt needed. then check salinity after a day or so, and make sure things are in check. after about 3 days everything should be fine, and you can add more salt, or exchange some water as needed. but do not toss the water if you remove any, because you may add to much fresh and need to add a bit more saly to it. well, if that makes sense :D

Tony,
Everythings looking nice and plain so far but I'd redo the plumbing now before its filled with salt water. I was stubborn at first and didn't want to change out my .5 piping, but you can't imagine how much you're restricting the flow. Not to mention putting extra pressure on the pump. As Russ said do it now before your committed. Remember its recommended to use 1.5in PVC pipe.

BTW how bigs your sump?

Damn Kris, I hope you guys are good friends. That's an awefully personal question to be asking a guy on a public forum :lol_large .

Tony, please take Kris's and my advice and do it right the first time. It's a WHOLE LOT more trouble trying to do it after the fact. Just soooo easy to do right now.

Looking good my friend. Can't wait to see it cycling and getting stocked. Hey, you're not looking forward to this frag swap, are you? :sgrin:
