I made the stand (not complete waiting to finish the plumbing before closing it up)92"x42"x30"H

1/4hp Artica chiller
72" Coralife Aqualite 3x250mh + 2x96w actinic
Pan World 250ps ~1900gph
Reef Octopus skimmer
40gallon breeder for sump
BRS bulk package Ca+Alk+Mag

started on the plumping there will be a ball valve and check valve off of the return from the pump. drain from the overflow of the tank has a ballvalve before the elbow and then a union will be on the othere side of the wall to allow removal if needed.

i can't really tell from the picture, but it seems like the top rim on your stand is supported only by screws. Supposing the screws were to fail, the only thing left supporting the tank would be the 3 vertical beams down the center.

As of right now the only deffinates are the current 3 tangs in my 50 breeder

i can't really tell from the picture, but it seems like the top rim on your stand is supported only by screws. Supposing the screws were to fail, the only thing left supporting the tank would be the 3 vertical beams down the center.

the 3/4 inch ply is acually sitting flush ontop of all 15 vertical beams, and the tank is not 100% complete i want to be able to get underneath it to complete the plumbing

he before you put any water in that tank i would add a second assist joist between the top and bottom frame so all your weight isnt sitting on screws. the weight will be suported by the 2x4.. if your not sur what i mean PM me. I build houses.. id hat to see your stand fail and blow 2x4s thru the bottom of your tank...

yeahh i would put 2x4s under the top 2x4s not on the side ,the way you have it all the weight is going to be supported by the screws not by the 2x4s

Isn't the term Jack studs?

The vertical studs are for overall structure and the jacks will support the weight.

If that stand fails due to a lack of Jack studs im pretty sure you wil feel like a Jack ( )( )

update

Been working but still got some stuff done. First the light came in and then i did more work on the stand taking your guys advice, after all i would not be this far in the hobby without this forum haha

also did a water test just to the top of the over flow to make sure the tank held water(ive heard some stuff about glass cages) but all was fine.
ill get more done tomorrow

i know its crazy. i posted my old tank a 120 w/o overflows on craigs list a month ago got about 1000 emails of junk in reply .. i posted it here an hour ago got 3 people that want it tomorow its crazy.. i love it.. i belonged to a forum in NJ.. not saying which,lol but noting compared to here!
