Tank is crashing real hard and i think it bio pellets............Well here is my problem with Bio pellets. In the past 2-3 months i noticed my phosphate and nitrate is zero all the time. I did not pay to much attension to this because everyone wants zero P04 with sps. Well i been losing sps right and left and i think these pellets are to blame. I think there is just no food source in my water column. I always see my candy canes open during the daytime( must be hungry). I think this is causing my tank to starve. My colors are not what they used to be.I just started to increase my feeding cycle and stoped washing off frozen food. Increased frozen to everyday from every 2-3days. Adding these bio pellets to me was a wrong move. I think that i should of stayed with GFO.

i have ton of frags because all these colonies just got fragged up before they all RTN.. I hope to bounce back...

pics of have lost tank will be up soon

jarrett, i do partially think the pellets might have gotten you to a point of ulns, when i was going for that route when i dosed vodka i noticed after a few months my colors were a little paller sp ? and had started dosing aa's and color started coming back, dont tell anyone but when i used vodka and or the pellets i didnt rinse my frozen food, thinking this helps with adding some phos ect. people tend to forget that the pellets will also help tank water clearer allowing for more light penitration. and if you were only feeding your tank every few days that didnt help. i feed 2 cubes a night and sometimes some flake or pellet

yeah i guess when they say dont touch nothing until it breaks there right, going back to GFO this weekend, i am speaking to many people with tank crashes due to pellets
so people love them so many people hate them, i talked to some guy who takes care of a sps tank (forest) thats been running for years. once he added pellets 2 months later the tank crashed, he did nothing diffrent.

u guys are assuming it is the pellets, not to de-rail this, but there are hundreds of people on Rc using them and havent had issue's, will ask the same i ask everyone, what salt are you using ? what are you dosing and as i stated on a tank that size and with fish the size you have, you were under feeding the tank, kinda like taking peroxide to clean then taking bleach over afterwards. jarret i am not trying to be harsh or doubt your thoughts, but i am in almost month 3 with no issue's, i do have alot of fish and food pretty decent though. how much of the pellets did you also start out with. and what were your levels when you started and did you monitor them along the route ?

Rick my problem is i been running since Aug 27,(6 months). Pellets are very new to some people and yes there are alot of people on RC that might not of had what i had yes. I am just saying my old fashion way worked great I think. yes i always under feed because of trying to keep SPS in the best water , Yeah it might be something else but i feel ever since i started using them i lost color, growth, poly extension. I had greet sucess with just GFO. I think that most people dont know about the harm pellets can cause if not used right and i learned the hard way.

jarret I will frags stuff for you if you need.

We have to learn in this hobby there are no fast fixes or magic dosing that we can do to make our tanks amazing or high end. We need to rember if we do not have control over our tanks this happens with us. I strayed away from the pellets becuase I dident trust it.

Rick old fasion maintaince and hard work make the tank happy. missing a water change or here an there ok fine. Just test and keep up with water changes and al that and it will be fine.

I just dose mb7 and bio fule.
