PICS START IN POST # 20

Well i don't have a tank yet but i have my old equipment which i brought from NY. what's the biggest tank size or should i say footprint i can get for one light? i'm not worried about the tank having acenter brace. i plan to remove the center brace and attach a clear piece of acrylic so i don't have a big shdow in the middle of the tank.

I would say for a full SPS tank the biggest I would do is a 20" cube like the solana. If you don't mind areas of less light for other corals a 24" cube would probably work well. Cali reef had a 250w in a luminarc that covered a 30" cube pretty well.

I was going to say a 30 cube - that pendant is pretty focused - a luminarc rocks a 30g.

30x24x24 is not a cube ts a rectangle and I wouldn't do a rectangle with one light unless you do like rich says and leaves a little light for the side (for LPS or acans etc?)

why the middle is 1/2 inch and the other two 3/8, they same dimenssions...

yup that's the bottom piece. thanks leo

yesterday i was in Pi?ones which is about 10 mins away from my house and as always i took my snorkling gear and small net with me. the tide was very very low and there were some small tide pools around the reefs. i managed to grab tons of small fish, some bristle stars, crabs and urchins. i of course show them to the kids and then throw them back.

i continued to snorkel and found a pair of coral banded shrimp. good thing they aren't fast. i managed to grab both and put them in an empty 2 liter. they are temporarily in a 10g tank w/ a pair of gobies that i also brought with me.

they call it 'la pozita' or 'well' because there is a rock wall all along the beach that breaks the waves and then a pretty large pool with very calm water where the water pretty much has a max height of 3-4'. it's in Pi?ones

well so much for the custom tank. i picked up a 65g this weekend. the tank isn't reef ready and i can't drill the bottom since it's tempered so i'll have to use my external overflow box. i built the stand for it but it's only the "bare bones".

i hope to have some pics up tomorrow
