The pipes coming down from the overflow are 1 1/2" fed by 2 dursos which work great as well (very quiet :shhh also as u can see there is the union then a ball valve on the return (i did it this way to easily modify the plumbing if it was to loud) it really dont matter because it can only drain a certain amount anyways and the pipe going down into the sump is not glued.. for easy removal if need be... so if your doing your own plumbing most of the time you should put the ball valve before the union so you can cut the flow and remove that piece at any time ...
i did the over the sump intake for the pump (works great thanks Jhale)...
also did a T off the output of the pump (i wanted to do a Y since the Y restricts the water alot less..) but could not find a 1" Y in time.. once i find it i will replace it... with a T the water goes to the path of less resistence..
What made you go with the over the sump intake for the pump? If i take it right, to start the siphon you would unscrew that cap and fill the pump as much as possible then cover it back up and once it starts running with the water it has it will start the siphon going. Is that the concept behind it?
thankyou jim.. yea thats all i been doing is thinking and thinking...
your right the lights look awesome..
you will def. see it very soon (inverts)
pedro, the pops and I :irked: everyone thinks i didnt do anything :grumpy: :lol2: thanks a bunch pedro
that is def. the concept behind it and there is no need to drill the sump... I did it this way so i dont have to worry about the sump breaking and leaking all over... once the pump has water in it and the power fails it will start sucking again so need no to fill it back up... I cut all power to the tank yesterday and everything went back online with no overflowing water :sigh: thankgod one less thing to worry about...
That piece of furniture is amazing. What a beautiful piece. Your dad did a fantastic job.
As for the tank, I'd be back in the store with a hammer and beat the shop owner and the tank with it if he doesn't fix what he did. All the work you guys put in that stand to have a job like that done on the overflow is killing me. You should let us know which store it was.
Tony, I'm in no way insulting you. You guys did a great job on every portion of this tank... that overflow is driving me crazy. Even if you get exceptional coralline growth to hide it, the reduction in flow and gurgling would be enough for me to find a way to fit the tank up the shop owners a$$.
Tony I'm coming over and putting a black piece of acrylic in your overflow box, then painting the back of your tank black
REally awesome setup Tony! You and your dad did a great job. It's cool that you guys can share this experience together.
yea i see what u guys are saying about the overflow... me personally i dont care but im gonna get a piece of acrylic the same blue color and slide it into the overflow box... i really dont mind it but it takes away from the beauty of the tank....
