Thanks Rich, Will, and Onkar!

This is gonna be my last one til we move from this house. There's no way I'm voluntarily moving that tank back up those stairs :bunny:

How would you guys go about leveling the stand? It's off 1/4" from side to side. And would you support a stock stand with additional 2*4's?

Forget about messing with the stand. Mix cement, get a piece of 2x4 and a 4' level and start leveling the floor. That's what I did many years ago to a 125g that I had setup in basement. But this all depends on if your floor is already finished with title or something else...

I won't add additional supports. I'll be shimming the low side of the tank with cedar shims.

Fish Wish List:
Blue Caribbean Tang (atlantic blue)
School of Chromis
Fuzzy Dwarf Lion
2-3 blue strip pipefish
Desjardini Sailfin
Clown Tang
10 or so fairy wrasses

I want the fish to be the focal point of the tank. Going to post some pics of the aquascape soon. :bunny:

Thanks Tony!

Here's a pic of the stand with 2 coats of a waterproofing membrane for the inside. Coated all sides, bottom and top of the inside. Going to put on a coat of kilz today and that should be pretty good. I put silicone on all joints before applying the membrane, so it should be pretty water tight when it's said and done.

Do you have side door access? Guess I am wondering how will you access the sump if you need to fix it or something.

I ask only because from my first stand that didn't have an opening wide enough to fiddle w sump, I had to break it to get the leaking sump out.

Anyway, gkad to see the sump is leak proof!

There is side door access, the panels can slide completely off. Funny thing is they slide towards the back and that's going to be facing a wall, so not gonna get any use out of them :smash: I can however fit the sump easily through the front opening if I do have to remove it.

I'm going to have a sump run from the back to the front of the tank, rather than side to side. I'll leave about 1-1.5 feet behind the stand for access if I ever need it. I'll be adding a 20 long as a refugium, sitting parallel to the sump. It will sit a bit higher and drain into the sump then back up to the main tank.

Feeling good about the stand, just have to make room for me CA reactor in there somewhere.

Thanks thirty6. I'll see what HD has today.

Question..

My skimmer is about 1/4" too tall, just enough to make it impossible to get the cup off of the tank. The top of the stand is solid plywood, would I be okay cutting out a square right above the skimmer so I can get the cup on and off? probably 1ft by 1.5ft?

Cut the skimmer! Who uses skimmers nowadays anyway!?
