ah, that sucks....i was looking forward to see an overgrown forest. Hope you don't loose much and grow them out even better :)

Thanks Sam. I am done with the losses right now. Everything growing again. I was able to save frags of most of the corals that I lost, so now it's just patience.

For a few months the tank was so unstable that I would get alk readings ranging from 7dkh and as high as 14dkh!! I was also feeding infrequently so the tank got extremely clean, killing off my bacterial population that was sustained by heavy feedings. As a result, when I started feeding heavily again, I had a cyano explosion. It's subsiding now and SPS growth starting to take off again. There's such a delicate balance with SPS tank. PITA!!!!:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

Thank you sunny. Your tank is quite an inspiration for us to follow.

Mike, thanks. Your crazy husbandry is always in the back of my mind when I slack :)

Macro, lol, thanks :)

Thanks Eric. Colors are faded compared to what they were. I did a black out for Cyanobacteria last month, and changed lighting. Colors slowly improve each day.

Thanks Ming. I used a branch scape like my old nanos for this tank. I like the flow and vantage points to mount frags.

Oh207, that's an orange setosa. It's always in a battle with surrounding montis. It has a pretty cool growth formation, reaching for light.

Rich, tank looks great as usual. What's your thinking about changing your lights from MH to T5. Growth? Color? Heat? LIPA$$? Thanks John

Thanks John. The switch wasn't to save heat or electricity, it was to get complete coverage and increase growth (since I lost so many corals and had to frag STN pieces). IME T5 gives the best, most dense growth in SPS coral. Every branch is illuminated from every angle. Only problem that I see with t5 is that many tanks get pastel colors to their SPS. Some guys like this, I'm not a fan. I may be able to get deeper colors eventually with my heavy bio-load and heavy feeding ..... we'll see. In the mean time, my alk and cal consumption has gone up 30ml each over the past month, and I see SPS growth taking off :) The plan seems to be working.
