Hey has anyone ordered from that site? I'm just about ready to begin my 55 reef tank! I made a last minute decision to cycle my tank with 75% dry rock and 25% live rock. (Is that a good idea or no? I'm still some what new =[ )

Anyways , let me know!

Sounds good. I just cycled my 120 with about 150# of marco rock and 20# of live. I'm starting to see a decent number of critters on the rock.

I dont get it....arent marco rocks completely new, without any life at all on them ever?
There was never anything living or dead on these rocks, correct?
How can they cycle when there is nothing in them? I thought the cycle happened b/c of die off, which causes a spike in...nitrates,etc, which leads to a spike in amonnia....

Why would these marco rocks cause a cycle?

It depends on what you want to accomplish. Evidently this rock still has dead stuff so it will cause a cycle. But you will not got any life from it as you would from uncured live rock. Many people are happy with that since it eliminates unwanted surprises. But if you enjoy discovering new life then live rock is the way to go. Or you can get cured rock from an LFS which eliminates the smell of curing but also has reduced the number of surprises.
