Rbta

Tank looks amazing! does that BTA sting your corals? im thinking of getting one and am worried it may kill my sps and zoas? After it stings them can they recover?

Thank You...
Not recommended for the beginner hobbiest and this is a catch 22 question....this is from my experience.

Yes it does sting anything within reach. Fortunately for me the RBTA has not moved since it's placement there and has anchored itself aswell. The zoa's I'm not worried about as they retract and close, and I have enough to compensate for any loss. Can they recover... zoa's yes, if not exposed to the stinging tenticles for a(n) excessive and extended period of time. Sps on the other hand will bleach out at the point of contact and receeded back to a point. Can it recover... eventually but the process will be extremely long and depends on the severity. Decide wisely, RBTA are beautifull creatures and they will move around untill they find a good spot and sting anything an everything in it's path. But are you willing to take that chance on that new piece of coral that cost you some bucks.. GL on your decision and read up on them for more info.

Thanks . Yea ive been in the hobby a few years and am not worried about being able to keep it im just worried about it ruining my corals :) . Im going to upgrade and have a nice zoa garden with mostly sps and im going to add a few rare fish to my stocklist as well.Im just worried though that the corals will be ruined. i was going to put a "pedestal" of liverock on its own to basically have a "perch" for the BTA i know they move but i figured id try and make it as comfortable in the best spot i could from the get go. I want a place for my clowns to host and i think they are beautiful. The color of your BTA is amazing! Im just not sure yet as im balancing risk-vs-reward lol . thanks and please post more pics of your tank as it it beautiful!

Upgraded my sump from a 30 Gallon to a 50 Breeder with LR /Chaeto/ Mangroves and DSB 2 months ago(42gal water cap). Installed a chiller. Installed a Aqua Controller with PH, Temp & ORP probes. Upgraded my Protein Skimmer from a MTC HSA 250 to a ASM G4-X two weeks ago. Yesterday I just plumbed a Blueline 100HD and added a frag tank 40 Gallon Breeder to the system. Had an issue with microbubbles and redid the intake to the external pump and made it a little longer, Microbubbles gone. 200 Gallon system now.
Massive flow!! Discard K'3's possible... Evap has increased from 1 gallon a day to 2 1/2 gallons. External Pump is producing a 2 degree increase in water temp....(follow up)???? Chiller is going on more frequent. Will set to 83* to go on and bring down the temp -4* Need to buy DC4 or DC8.

Hey Bro,
The temp shouldnt fluctuate that much I would drop it 2 degrees tops. 83 degrees is dangerously high.

BTW congrats on the frag tank n ur 200G system. I gotta see that crazy flow!
