I finally decided to get my self a decent camera. Any suggestions? Also what lens should I buy with the camera?

Mainly will be taking pictures of fish, LPS, and SPS. Macro shots also.

So some help would be greatly appreciated!

go with the D90, I've been looking at it for some time, currently I have the D70, great camera, with a 60 macro.

I would also recommend the 90mm or 150 macro.

Canon powershot sx110is.. That's what I use and don't have to change lenses to take a macro video, or macro shot, or a picture of a flower in a garden, or a raptor on a tree branch 300ft in the air,,lol.. Oh and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.. Oh and did I add I take some nice pictures,,lol.. But if you like the professional vcr on a string look this is not the camera for you,,,lmao..
I should get paid for this kind of endorsing,,lol..

I tried couple of brands in the past and to be honest with you, I wouldn't trust anything other than Canon and Nikon. Right now I'm using Nikon D90 with Tamron 90mm macro and external flash and I'm very happy with it. You have to tell us your budget, it'll be easier to advice you.

Tobin got me turned on to that camera awhile back at one of the swaps and I have been thrilled with it. Awesome camera for a point and shoot. Both my sister and her fiance use dslr nikons for work and they bought an sx110is to carry around so they wouldn't have to hall the dslr all the time. Takes amazing shots for a point and shoot. Once you get the hang of it and start messing with the setting a bit you will be taking some great shots. I guarantee you if you mixed some of the macros from the 110 with some higher end slr cameras you wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

it's not as bad as you think lol. Learning curve isn't as bad as a higher end camera but does a lot of the same stuff and you can learn the easier modes before messing with the (M)manual mode. Just keep messing with it and you'll pick it up fast.

Guys, this will be a good way to spend some money for me. Can you help me compare SX110IS with SX120IS which is $200 cheaper?! Ill SX120IS still be a good buy for tank shots and say regular day-to-day shooting?

Is it me or the camera? I have to stay super still for the picture not to come out blurry, or the modes are just not correct? I compared my pictures to tobin's and mine look like sh*t LOL. When I have it on "P" mode and put into macro, the camera does focus good enough. Even when I zoom in it comes out blurry, is there anything I need to mess with?

The specs on these two cameras are virtually identical, the SX120IS is the newer model so I'm not sure why the SX110IS is more expensive.

Will, when you say the pic is blurry, is the whole pic blurry or is the subject (fish or coral) the only thing blurry? If the whole pic is blurrry, then its you and camera shake, use a tripod. If its the subject that's blurry then your shuttter speed is too slow. Try sports scene for faster shutter.

I ordered my tripod last night after I bought the camera. I remember you telling me something about the triangle thing, I totally forgot what you told me and what everything meant. One of these days I think you shall come over and teach me again. I'll hook you up, just come through.

When you take a picture, you generally want the shutter to stay open just long enough to capture a crisp image. Too long, and the image is blurry(especially when you're not using a tripod/remote due to the increase chance of shaking). You need to find the right shutter speed.

I noticed your camera has a preset setting for taking aquarium pics. Go to your special scenes menu and select aquarium mode (worth a try). Also, make sure that you are almost perpendicular to the aquarium glass as it will distort your image at certain angles.

I may take you up on your offer, another excuse to get something for the tank.

Your zooming too much.. This camera is a serious point and shoot.. That's it..
