Beautiful coral!! Has always been my favorite. BTW, it doesn't matter what size you buy it at, they do grow you know. Mine has doubled in size since I got it 2yrs. ago.

Mike, I have always heard/read that the Aussie's are supposedly the hardier ones as already stated by NYReef.

I bought an Aussie from Manhattan Aquariums. I was on the fence with how the current state of them are but I trusted MA and they really delivered.
It has doubled in size in the last 4 months, I feed it once a week small pieces of chopped seafood. I paid around $60 for one with blue tips.
By far my favorite LPS and Im tempted to get another.

Just make sure you trust who you buy it from to be honest about the origin.
I would only take on an Aussie due to what people are saying.
Place it in the substrate and, acclimate to light VERY slowly.

Sweet elegance. Remember they need to be fed, silversides or bits of shrimp work well. And yes they do need space, a happy elegance will swell 2-3 times the size you saw it in the store in most cases

VERY NICE!! i was in the store yesterday and saw the tank full of them... it was my first time seeing this coral in the flesh and i was really impressed...i could see one of these in my tank when i get the 75 setup.. good luck with yours!!

Hey Guys,

Yesterday the Elegance didn't looks so happy. I fed him some shrimp and today he looks like this...

Alk has gone down a bit recently. Dripping kalk...

Thoughts?

topmav, leave it be! They sometimes do that! If it still looks unhappy in a day or two, then we may have cause to worry. But not yet.
BTW, I do not really target feed my elegance. I squirt food at it, but that is about it. I am sure it grabs what it wants from the water column as it has grown tremendously. I do not have mine on the sand either. I have low in the tank where it gets plenty of light, and a decent flow.
Keep your parameters in check, and all should be well!!!!

i kept mine low in the rockwork, with indirect flow,never target fed.. it was abt 10in when opend

How much light is it getting? I'm MA I saw them under 4 T5 when I bought mine. If they go into MH then it could be going through some light shock.

I have 4 t5's and 2 175watt halides. I'm gonna run just 2 of the t5's for now see if that helps... Looked slight more open today but certainly not what it used to look like. Seems like i can put mine in the rock work i/o the SB but I guess for now I'll leave it be and see if it opens up tom...
