I usually carry some wire and string to kill the crown of thorns when I see them. Basically you stick a wire through the center of them, attach a rock, and drop them off a huge shelf. They'll starve if they are stuck in the depths.

Your idea is great! But i only knew that's the sps killer after the end of my dive. It would be great if those Dive master knew something like that. Unfortunately they aren't that good/bright and made my wife's dive a little miserable (got bite by fish pretty badly).

I went to three island.....Minihi, moorea and tahiti. It's nice there but too expensive, would probably go back someday to the other islands.
