what were the tank temps last summer?
does the basement stay cool?
will your parents freak if you have to leave the a/c on 24/7 just for the tank?

i would only have to leave it on during the hours the metal halides are on... it would be on energy save mode and set at 78... basement stays cool for the most part.. i also have a dehumidifier in the basement as well..

moidol im gonna look into it but with the AC unit i have and a couple of clip on fans should do the trick for the summer... im gonna think about the situation... i would rather have the chiller 1st...

scoots i have the canon xti w/ 10.1 mp. all of my pics are beautiful. except for the ones of my tank lol. what we both need is a zoom macro/telephoto lens. lets go beg jhale! lol

You just need to practice and for crying out loud use a tripod, that's why they are blurred. The first one was better, after that it went downhill. Sorry for busting your chops, but i'm sure you can do better with what you got. You can make it work! Go for the chiller instead, a tank full of dead fish and corals in nothing fun to shoot at :smile:

Do you have a stepladder or something that tall that you can use to prop the camera so that it's still? Then use the timer. You will see a huge difference, trust me.

You will not get a clear shot at an angle, if that's what you do then there's your problem!

Always keep the lens 90 degrees to the glass for macros.
