Before you all lynch anyone, how many of you had FW tanks and Oscars, Dempseys or the like before becomming SW saviors of all marine life? I am sure those that kept the larger Cichlids fed them goldfish every now and then. This is the same thing. It is what this creature eats in nature, and we are trying as best we can to mimick nature in order to keep a healthy tank. If it offends people to see nature at work, maybe those folks should give up keeping animals and move on to the plant keeping hobby. Oh, wait. The Venus flytrap eats those poor flys!
The only problem I see with feeding sea stars to the shrimp is stars are kind of spendy as far as feeder material goes!

bmb welcome to MR, it's not called lynching here it's called busting chops. Ronen is our friend and we all break each others chops on a daily basis, get used to it. This is not RC, understand?

Cool! I get sick of seeing the " moral patrol" on RC going after everyone. It's great to see that some folks can poke a little fun at eachother without it getting ugly. I can hardly wait to get a tank set up so I can contribute more to this great club. Now all I need is a small nano setup. Anyone have one for sale?
Thanks,
Bill

I always thought the soapy stuff was just pollution. Now this makes total sense. (I really wish I took marine biology in college).

Oh, well - and the starfish is unlikely to feel anything anyway - as it doesn't have a brain.

Once, I was at a sushi restaurant sitting at the bar, and somebody ordered lobster sashimi. The chef took out a live lobster, cut the tail from the thorax - and while he got the meat out of the tail and poached it, the head and body were still crawling (in front of me). Kinda gross - but having boiled a lobster alive, who am I to judge? :headache:

I think feeding it a live starfish wud be better...its more natural and we try to mimic and achieve the most natural enviornment possible for our livestock....and like chief said the beach is the skimmer...that white soapy fuzz u see early in the morning at the beach is skimmate...nasty huh..since we swim in it...
