I fed my Shrimp his weekly star fish part  and got to the very very last of it ,so i did what every harlquin shrimp does and gave him half a star fish .Well let me tell you ,Star fish are by far the most hardest creature ive seen.went from 5 legs ,to half a body and still alive.
the shrimp has been following the star fish for over 2 hrs now ,just picking away .He his now on the side of the glass about 3.4 of the way up and he wont let go ,tryna pull the star fish off the glass

Before everyone gos killing me here ,this is the only thing they eat ,i do feel bad ,but its nothing diff then having or seeding pods and live food to fish or corals .srry if this offened anyone ,But lots of us have these shrimps and we need to feed them ,star fish will regenerate from dropping legs in nature ,and these shrimp are here to keep population down .

sushi may be raw, but it's not live! have you no heart for your victims?

all those who wish to hang ronen for his cruel treatment of the stars (or for any other reason) say "I"

Ronen...that is messed up...u have no soul...u have no respect for the ocean and the life it creates....its like chopping off a lizards tail and feeding it to a bigger lizard..ohh don't worry it'll grow back....why don't u pull out some of sonnys feathers every week..don't worry..they'll grow back....i can believe a person could do something like this....hold on is that a harlequin shrimp...ohh i have one and feed a cc star leg once a week....but at least i feed the starfish.....:lol2:

Just curious - does it have to be a live starfish? Could it have been euthanized first (e.g. by freezing it)?

I know this is how things work in nature, but nature also doesn't have protein skimmers or phosban reactors.

Natures protien skimmers are beaches and shores, the water crashes on the shores and bubbles up leaving the protien behind :)

All in all the key to solution is dilution and nature has the biggest water supply around!

I think feeding it a live starfish wud be better...its more natural and we try to mimic and achieve the most natural enviornment possible for our livestock....and like chief said the beach is the skimmer...that white soapy fuzz u see early in the morning at the beach is skimmate...nasty huh..since we swim in it...

My linkia starfish has dropped 2 legs which are now comets. I'd be surprised if they didn't do so in the wild as well. Asterinas also reproduce via fission.
always learn something.
dean did you see that yourself at the moment? how it works? fast? like 30 minuts maybe?
