Since the don't require light to sustain themselves, they require meaty feedings a few times a week for best growth. I directly feed mine a combination of Formula I & II pellets soaked in Selcon, thawed mysis shrimp, freeze-dried krill and occasionally, cyclop-eeze.

From what I understand, its because they're so much bigger then sun coral and that they stay out during the day which makes them more expensive. You can have a sun coral colony like in my avatar, or a single polyp of a dendro for the same price. That being said, I'm happy with my sun coral colony.
