I saw this guy at Suffolk County Fish and Reef, and I had to have him. As soon as I got him home he started feeding. Isn't it awesome?!!!

He's right, it's a Sea Cucumber. I had never seen one with these colors. The trouble is that they only feed when the lights go out. So the colors don't stand out like they do when the tank lights are on.

Under the "wrong" conditions/circumstances like rough handling, objectionable water quality, pheromonal cue-ing, pushy tankmates, pump/siphon intakes, sea cucumbers are known to eviscerate. Hey, one of my favorite terms... basically cast out their respiratory trees, gonads, gastro-intestinal and it's contents, most everything but the kitchen sink through their mouth and anus. This can be a very big bummer as they say in the sciences, with consequent poisoning/pollution/death & destruction to all other desirable tank-system-mates.

that thing is sick. looks very interesting. can't they be highly toxic if the die? just keep an eye on it if you have expensive coral in the tank. it's funny i didn't read page 2 , lol . guess everyone else already explained how toxic they are , lol. still cool though.
