At the Manhattan Reefs Fall Frag Swap 2013, Pax-Bellum LLC unveiled the first of our production line A.R.I.D. (Algae Remediation Illuminated Device) Reactors. Not long after this swap we were contacted by Fishlife Aquariums to not only to open communications between the two businesses, but also to propose the possibility of installing one of our reactors on a 2200 Gallon Reef system in LI.

At NERAC we met with the staff of Fishlife Aquariums and met Tony, the owner of the 2200 system. After meeting with everyone, the gears began grinding, multiple drafts and ideas, finally after nearly 3 months of labor and machining, Pax-Bellum LLC installed the C308.

Special Thanks to Fishlife-Aquariums and Tony for the opportunity to install and showcase our Commercial Grade Reactor!

Cool looking. What are the 2 feed lines above the units and what is that unit mounted to the wall and what's it for? Are you feeding the calcium reactor effluent directly to the ARID system and why?

The two 1/2" lines are the supply and return manifolds for the water cooled LED assemblies. Coolant water flows the entire length of the rod that the leds are affixed. The water is then pumped back to the radiator on the power panel seen on the upper left, in a closed loop. Leds seem to be colder than room temperature with this setup. They should last years and years.

The valve setup on the lower left on the supply line is a drip counter to a venturi bypass. the top port on the drip counter is for direct injection of nutrients for the ARID using the venturi as a vacuum to pull it in and mix it within the manifold. The port just below is for the Ca reactor effluent. The venturi is not in operation normally when the Ca reactor is dripping into the system. This setup allows any excess CO2 or PO4 from the Ca reactor to be taken up by the ARID before reaching the main tank. We're working on a similar setup for our hobby size versions.

We'll most likely be building a custom Ca reactor for this tank in the future. The one pictured is noticeably undersized.

Awesome job on the plumbing and the light shining through from the top of the ARID reactors with the white PVC body (I think...) would look very cool even if it was installed upstairs in a living room. Nicely done with the Ca reactor feeding into the 8 reactors to bring up the pH, clean PVC assembly and symmetrical layout. Perfect!

Thank you very much! Minus the water cooling these reactors have the same dimensions as our C30 model which is being run on Prattreef and a half dozen other MR members!
