jose, i'm so sorry to hear of the passing. i share your emotions and sentiments even though mine wasn't a dog.
i had a cat that saw me started college, graduated dental school, married, the birth of 2 out of 3 children, and babysat them with my parents.
the night before her vet's appointment, every family members spent some time with her, even my wife who was deadly allergic to cats.
as i held her body while she was taking her last breaths, i remembered all the milestones and turning points i went though with her. i was overwhelmed with emotions....tears of sorrow and tears of joy were welling up at various times.
i kept her cremains in my car - my wife thought it was creepy when i would take out some bits of skeletal remains and leave them in various places we had traveled together. my kids (they were about 6 and 4) used to ask to see her cremains and would pet the urn like they were petting the cat - now that was a little creepy....lol. the last of her cremains were buried in my parents' back yard.
cherish the joy and the memories.......after all that's what life is all about.
god bless.
