Very cute dog. Good luck with it.
I feed my dogs Orijen. My dog's coat is fluffiest and shinest when on that food and have not noticed any allergies.
I have tried Science Diet, Eukanuba, Purina Chef Michaels, Pedigree, Blue buffalo and Royal Canin. My male pom developed dander on these foods.

adorable face! yes, the pet insurance pays for itself. Vet bills can be monsterous and I'd never want to be faced with putting my dog down just because I couldn't afford to treat her. Aslan came down with melanoma in Oct. and I am super glad that I have pet insurance! Also covers shots, meds, etc. Why can't you get it now, I'm suprised they would make you wait. Find some toys for him or he'll find his own and I'll bet his choice will not make you happy:) If you play with the toy like it is the best thing in the world--get all excited over it, bat it around, talk excitedly to it (I know you'll look like a fool) then when he comes over kind of keep it to your self and taunt him a little. When he comes back for it let him "win" the toy from you and then you act interested in it. Soon, he'll love the toy. Dogs want whatever you have that seems neat.

Whatever you do on the food front do NOT switch the dogs food around or give him people food. You'll end up with a picky, difficult eatter. Pick one kibble and stick to it. I've fed Aslan IAMS for 11 years and she loves it, has kept her in good health (aside from the melanoma which isn't food related). Also, with the food a good thing to do is to do a little hand feeding and petting then take the bowl away and pet him and give it back. You basically want to train the dog to trust you around his food and that when you take his food, it's ok.

I am going to North Shore to get a second Vet Opinion on Saturday to make sure nothing too crazy health wise is going to happen down the road.

It really pissed me off that I drove 2 hours to pick him up at the Animal Hospital under the assumption he is completely healthy only to be told when I got there that he has active lyme disease.

I am so tired...
