It's fake.

Kittens are born with their eyes closed. You can normally see their second eyelids when they do finally open them.

It may be me, but I can actually see the cut lines from where it was edited.

They can prove it by releasing the other photos. It does happen in nature, but it still looks photoshopped to me.

And it wouldn't be the first time someone at a "reliable" news source fabricated something or failed to fully investigate.

Anyone with a memory card reader can save an edited picture onto a memory card. That just further diminishes the reliability of this story for me. Nowadays, digital cameras save pics directly to the card as .jpg. Even my 1998 digi did.
