Thought I'd share a pic on here. Here is a 41lber that my charter caught last night. It was a group effort reeling it in :)

Rich, I need to get out on the boat! What's the story?

Bigsink!!! What's up buddy? I have been very busy taking out charters. People reserve the boat so I haven't been able to take out single passengers and friends. The bass fishing has been ridiculous though. We never had so many large bass before.

Here's a 40lber from last night

I have to share this with the fisherman of the site :)
In this video we have 3 fish on at the same time (2 were lost though). You can see the bunker schools getting crushed in the background. This charter did end up having a great trip catching and releasing more than their limit of fish. The biggest was 46lbs.

I use live bunker most of the time, especially for fish this size. I fish a variety of different ways. I either drop the bunker to the bottom on a fishfinder rig, swim it on top without a sinker, or snag and leave. It really depends on the bite for that day. I always use mono leader. I am not trying to catch bluefish.

Its been a great season at my summer place in Cutchogue...I'm just fishing in a tidal creek, so the big bass have left (although something is making schools of bunker jump in the morning...tried livelining bunker and bluefish, but whatever it is goes as quickly as it comes.) All fish are small...blues are only a pound, with the occasional schoolie bass, but I'm catching something every dawn or dusk, sometimes lots of blues...sometimes only a few, but always something. On light tackle, they are great....with my outfit, the little guys are a fun fight, but it can handle anything big that might surprise me. Best of all, the weakfish are back! Best weakfishing in years....small, but all keeper sized, in the evening..as always, they pass through and you've got about a minute or 2 to catch them before they move on. And I'm waiting for my dock to be repaired so I can go after the crabs..loads of them this year...may be the best year ever. Mostly small, but they will all be large in another week or 2.

Everything changed after my last post. The continuous heat drove the fish away. At this point there are hardly even any snappers around...I haven't caught a fish in maybe 2 weeks. There are still loads of crabs, but they are mostly small, with an inordinate number of females this year (a very good sign...but since females are illegal in Southold town they have to be thrown back). But I did scoop up a softshell yesterday...literally within an hour or 2 of moulting...its old shell was maybe 10 feet away. Tastiest softie I have ever eaten!
