Ever think of leaving N.Y. ?

Lately it has been crossing my mind more and more. I was born and raised here in the big apple and frankly havnt traveled to many other states, but cant help wondering if things could be better somewhere else. Anyone else here feel the same? .....or moved away and decided to come back?

Building a log cabin home in Saurgerties NY for the past 2 years now.. I'm thinking about moving but it will most likely become a vacation home..

I did I moved an hour north of the city
I literally could not afford a house like I have here in the city.
yes my Taxes are higher than in the city but the schools are great ( no need to send my son to private or parochial school)
it's clean, quiet, almost no crime.

yes there is life outside of NYC

friend of mine is a doctor i was an intern with already has a nice house in texas and loving life!

I come from upstate, NY and decided to move down from Albany one day..

Planning on putting in my time with the wife and then move somewhere warm since we both hate the cold.

every single day i think about it, especially being i am from the mid west and know what i paid for my house and what my taxes were a year, and i make the same money here as i did there. but my wife is from here and her family is here so i got till my daughter is 18 then poof i am gone, man 14 more yr's of this place, and not being from here and i dont live in the city i dont see what all the hype about ny is. we have everything in the midwest they have here, maybe not as many or open as late, oh and i forgot we have manner's where i grew up lol nothing personal to those from here. met alot of nice people, but people are on fast forward here and seems life doesnt have time to be enjoyed

I think of leaving all the time . The cost of living is crazy but you also make more money than most any other place. The worst part is the BS with the taxes etc...My house went up in value this past year and so did my taxes the city seems to think I can get $780000 for my house so my taxes are based on that. Mr Bloomberg says the city doesn't have money but he just gave 45 million of the city's money to train wall street workers who got laid off.

But my story is a little different, I did not have a choice.. But believe you me, I wanted to leave BAD!

I would just love to get out of NY. The taxes, weather, why else stay? The south or out west keeps looking better every winter!

I would love to pick up and move to Hershey, PA. Even though they get snow and cold and etc I wouldn't care because it's not NY.

My wife and I talk about it at least every week. Both of our kids are in college. One is graduating this year. The other graduates in two years. All bets are off at that point :party:
