Taking my Gf out on Thursday 2/21 (1yr for us, my first and her first) and I want it to be really nice. Looking for a place thats not overly fancy, but the atmosphere is nice and quiet, yet not ghostly.

I looked through old thread and came up with Carmine's, Tony Di Napoli, and Campanile. Which one's out of those would be best suited. Looked at the menu's and they all suit our appetites.

Any input is appreciated, don't want to go to a place like Olive Garden or Red Lobster.

Thanks,
-Kris

I haven't been to any of those places. :(

Eric and I both really like the New Orleans themed place on 7th Avenue (No No's, I think it's called?). I also really, REALLY like Applewood in Park Slope (though that is quite pricey).

I forget Kris - are you allowed to drink yet? If so, take her to the Chocolate Bar (on 7th, not the one of 5th) for dessert and wine. If not, I still recommend the Chocolate Bar for dessert. You don't have to be 21 to enter.

No Morimoto's or Nobu? How about London, or Bar Americain/Mesa Grill? Peter Lugers?

Could you afford any of those places while you were in college? I certainly couldn't!

No suggestions for the restaurant, K. If you want a really great mexican place in Syracuse, or a amazing Thai place in Dayton, OH, i've got them covered. . .

Eeek the chocolate bar (one on 7th) has nothing on the Chocolate Room (the one on fifth) although last time I was there the line was long. I would check out smith st. what kind of food are you looking for? All of those places sound Italian (boring) Jolie is fantastic (French on Atlantic Ave) and the atmosphere is perfect for such an occasion.

I know the chocolate bar has nothing to do with the chocolate room. :) Other than similar concepts. I prefer the Chocolate BAR. I've never had to wait in line there though. Maybe that's because Eric and I used to go out on weeknights a lot.

Ooh, Brooklyn Fish Camp is really good also. Eric always recommended Al-di-la, but we never actually went there.

I like Carmine's. The dishes are really big, as in giant size portions, so make sure you go there hungry.

Kris, I have a bunch of places I can recommend, especially on a budget of a college student-- Feel free to give me a call.

I agree with Fred. Jolie is a very romantic place to go for youe 1 year anniversary. Good luck.

Thanks for the insight everyone :). What do you guys think of the MesaGrill? Anyone ever been there, I looked at the menu and it's slim picking for me, since i don't eat beef or pork. The wife would like it though once it tastes good.

You guys think its worth a shot?
