It's another wordy boring story by Wingo,

so if you are not into reading lesiure stuff then you should stop now and go back to your hardcore reefer section :fish::joke:

The @#$$%))#)( client is ME myself.
The stupid do it for free contractor is also me.

I wanna put a projector up for my room, so I contract the split personality of me to custom build a mount for me. The split personality of me, agreed since there is nothing better to do than just sitting to wait for a seam to cure for another customer at the time the job order came. The contractor me, thought, it's an easy job, draw a simple diagram on the acrylics, cut it, polish it and bend it. All this should take less than 2 hours may be even one hour. So free is fine. Cutting takes half hour, polish half hour but client is not happy, so re-polish another half hour. Bending takes an hour-so time consuming--so freaking time consuming. Well, the contractor's flaw, the "stop" in the front of the mount was bend to the wrong side , so more time is taken to re-bend to the right side. Drill couple holes and off to the client, since the client is upstair, free installation would be fine too.

Installation

Since it's a free project(so don't wanna go HD) and don't want the black colored sharp wood screws to look ugly mounting with an all clear acrylic stand, so I just pick up 3 silver colored screws from my old junk.

Screw them in but wait they.... they just don't go in the hard wood of the window!!! Went back down to the workshop and spend 10 min. looking some sharper silver colored screws. Back to job site and ha...ah done in 30 secs!!!

Put the projector up, turn it on. GOOOOD.

What???? the screen is completely on the ceiling not on the wall. The client is very unhappy!!! The client said I thought that you are experience in mounting projectors in your career of setting up stages but you do not even realize the projection tilt upward!

Note: Can be seen from the pics, the first version is bended at 90 degrees.
Re bending too much is not good for high pressure application.
Mount of projectors is usually a hanger from the ceiling and secured the projector upside down. In general, projection tilt upward when used as a desktop projector and tilt down when mounted upside down so that the picture is always aligned on the wall

Facing this kind of complains, I have no choose but to redo the mount. Luckily this is done by bending the acrylics, so re bending it is not too much work. OK, re-bended and ready to be installed again. Problem again!. Now with shelve tilting down, none of my tools can get to the screws. It's a free project, so not going to HD to get tools just for that. Found couple hooks that I can twist and turn with bare hands and a rod so finally have the new version up.

Turn on the projector-----ooppps it's too low this time. Well re-bend again. Now that's an whole hour extra OT man.

Well all the hassle and arguments between the client and the contractor is well worth it because look at the final product here.. The client can even hang his lucky charm with the hooks.

wow, that looks great Wingo.

I'd say in the future to speak to yourself before the project so that you know exactly what you expect out of the project. there is nothing worse than wasting your time when your not happy with your work. :D

I also have a project I'm working on for myself for free, maybe your free self and my free self can collaborate, I have a wood tank frame I made, by mistake, I just need a small tank to put in it...

I suggest that you have the client submit to you a written description of what the client wants done. Then the contractor should draw out detailed schematics, depicting the finished project for approval. To signify approval, the client should initial the schematics prior to commencement of the work. Once the client, I mean the contractor has received the approved schematics then and only then should he begin work.

You should have taken a non refundable deposit from the client (you). Told the client that you charge for time and materials. Mistakes happen and the contractor is not responsible for any errors made by the client or the contractor. There should also be no start or finish time listed in the contract. All disputes must go through the agreed upon arbitrator (you for the client and you for the contractor). All arbitrators decisions are final and binding.

I wonder if the same old adage applies, 'a defendant who represents himself in court has a fool for an attorney'. :scratchch

Nice job.......................finally!
