well i never heard of fishtown till i signed on this site and ive been there 2 times since hearing of it.i got the address of the lfs directory.maybe that address should be deleted till this is settled.as for cathy i can understand asking people not to do business of trading or selling in your store as for store front it does not concern u.maybe its your controlling behavior or you subconciously want your fathers store to lose business because u hate being there.all i know is that when people want to meet at your store and trade or sell they are doing that so they can go into your shop and buy whatever else they need.bad move

I agree totally that people will make their deal with each other then go in the store. But i also feel that "we" can also be a little more respectful and do our personal business at least a little down the block. I know that i would be upset if i had a LFS and say someone came and was putting advertising for their LFS on the cars in front of my store. I know that that is not directly on point. But i can understand that she feels that people should buy those pieces in her store and not flaunt that they are selling them right infront of her store. I really dont know the answer. Again i think that she should just take one for her fathers business and apologize, it "might" make this go away, as long as she changes her attitude... Which might not be possible.

Thats why i said that it was not directly on point with my example. I wont disagree that she just started to yell, but i bet that this is not the first time that she has dealt with it. Again i am not defending anyone. Just a third party making a point.

First of all we were not in front of the store but next to a members car a
couple of doors down.You were staring at us from your car and complaining to your employees(the people you love and treat with so much respect) about us. After receiving his frag this guy actually went and shopped at the store. You then came after us and said ,"Get the F*** out of here!" I said that we were meeting some MR members here and that we were going shopping afterwards. You replied,"F*** MR!" and that you had some problems in the past with members. You then began to shout,"Gook, Go back to Asia, Asians are the cause of a lot of problems in this country."
There must be a reason why you are so angry and filled with hatred.
Can you look in the mirror and be happy with yourself? I feel sorry for you.
Through my career I have been very lucky to have traveled all over the world. I have met so many nice people from different ethnic and religious backgrounds. I have tried to learn from all of them and it has helped me grow in my career and as a person. I hope that you can make an effort
to change your ways. I think you will be a happier person.

I meet alex before and i said he is a good guy.I know this wasn't done on spike to trade frag close to ft but that is a nice location to meet and then shop after.what happen in the past with other member we don't know,as for good business it alway ends with poor management

Kathy, obviously u r concerned with people talking about your store and ur business ethics. Its SAD that so many are speaking of racial discrimination occurring in ur presence. People are more concerned with ur business coordination than your poor aqua conditions and obviously infected ding or about to, live stock. I remember how people spoke of ur store and how great it is to come to shop with u.....NOT ANY MORE.

racism aside, i feel really bad for kathy. A person's livelyhood (in her case FT) is hindered to some degree by people trading. logically if there was no reefclub or trading people would go to her. I sympathize with how something that was a percieved threat to her livelyhood (although misguided) can bring out the worst in people. I really hope deep down Cathy is not racist, and her outburst is a mere split second surfacing of ignorance she may have heard growing up or among peers and that she truely doesnt believe such things.

In any case, things have changed with Reefcentral/Manhattan Reefs and her business model must change with the trends. Stay on top of current trends and technology and get creative with your products ie learn to make good base rock and sell it for a decent price. Just my two cents. I will still go to FT when i am in the neghborhood, perhaps just to see the general atmosphere for myself now that this is in the back of my head.

i find fishtown to be widely reconized.....i met up with people there and sold a few things by fishtown.....but cathy should understand that we're not stealing her business.....we already made deals to trade/sell so business was already done.....
but because some people are not familiar with the area....when i ask "do u know where fishtown is?"....its mostly a yes...and meeting up there is much easier because both parties know where it is....we also went into the store and bought items after meets......but the service isisnt all that great......i dont get "hi...how are you"....but "hi...what do you need".....i still stop by just to pick up stuff here and there....now i have found other friendlier fish stores with smiling faces....even though it might be a little more expensive....its the appreciation that a customer gets when they walk out.......NUff Said..

If this was an isolated incident we'd absolutely support your view....but unfortionately this is a repeat incident. Awilda is one of the sweetest people on this site and it happened to her. Many of the former FT employees have reported similar incidents. It could happen to anyone of any one of us.

I've worked in many customer service jobs and it's always a one way street. Doesn't matter how rude a customer is you always treat them properly and with respect. I dont care if they called her a fat f-ing slob. She should be the bigger person as she is representing the integrity of her company.

If it happened only one time perhaps we'd let it slip. Everyone is entitled to bad days and a simple apology could cure all. Unfortionately this has happened before and it will happen again.

Anybody that has spent even a split second next to her should know what an unpleasant individual she is. So when two stand up guys, Alex and Willie, goes as far as reporting such an incident to the MR community it is hard not to believe them. Alex and Willie are both very respectable and intelligent guys, and even the thought of one of them calling her fat seems ridiculous. To give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you on what they said, it doesn't even begin to measure upto what came out of her ignorant mouth. Some of you constantly seem to sympathize with her "livelyhood" but I'm not sure why it's so hard to understand. The point of them meeting in front of the store was so they can go to the store right after to spend money on them. Most of the time I end up spending double the money that was made/spent from a meet with a member. Besides, it wasn't even in front of the store that this incident occured. Am I talking to a wall here? Please tell me some of these explanations are getting through to you. So many members of this community are reporting their bad experiences with Cathy and FT, and here you are still yelling out that nothing happend. You remind me of Mahmoud Ahmahdinejad, I bet you think holocaust didn't happen either huh? ...

Racial slur shouldn't be tolerated at all anywhere period. Even though I ve never met these two MR victims, but they sure have better reputation than the owners daughter. I too have spoken with former FT employees, and they told me about her and the store. It was definitely a stupid act she pulled. I can assure you that most of their customers are asian, being in that neighborhood. All it takes is few ads in most major new york asian newspaper and good game Fishtown. The sad part is that this lady still doesn't realize she did anything wrong. I will never step foot in FT again, and neither will my friends. Nicely done, Fishtown.

I have a bunch of customers that shop at your dad`s store and you have lost their business as well. This is going to turn into a lose lose situation for your dad`s store and only getting worse as we speak. Admit you were wrong ,apoligize and move on Cathy.....
