Standard.

Lets get those prices down and establish an industry standard instead of a HD/Blue ray war and then I'll upgrade to the winner.

Remember the Betamax VHS war?

Blue Ray, only because it's built into the PS3. Actually it's the also the reason why I chose the PS3 over the 360. Amazing Picture too!!

I have the standard with an HDTV and i can barely see a difference, I thought blue ray would look like Discovery HD but it doesn't...What gives?????

Blu-ray on an HD TV should look like Discovery HD. Well it better, that's the player format I want to get.

What do you mean you have standard with an HDTV?

yeah. beta was(is) a better format. But that's what happens wehn the gubberment gets involved.

I have a $40 dvd player. Until they actually figure out which format they're going to use, I'm not upgrading.

Okay, I might put an HD in the tivo box I'm building. not going with proprietary Sony BS.

blue ray here. its the best! just not sure if it will win this war . again! damn sony!. they are the better dvd's but hd dvd won the porn industry and paramount. no transsformers in HD. schucks. but blue ray has cornered blockbuster and some other brands. either way just wait and see. sonys prices are already coming down to competitive prices. BTWi have discovery HD on blue ray and its top of the line quality

If that's the case perhaps HD DVD has already won the war.

they say that is ultimately why VHS beat out betamax...

Betamax was technologically superior, but VHS won since it was cheaper and sony refused to put porn on beta format...

I see history repeating itself, you would think Sony would have learned their lesson.

You can get a toshiba HD-DVD player for $200 now.

Computers > players

I got an EVGA GTS card for my computer which is HD capable so all I need is the HD drive and I can run it to my TV. Probably costs more than a regular setup but I can play all my games on max and use either blu-ray or HD dvd.
