Any advice?

A couple months ago, I stopped in a print shop to have some business cards made. I wrote my name, phone number, and occupation on the back of a card to show the printer what I wanted.

I have started receiving phone calls from someone who found the card. At first, he said he was an old friend from art school (which I did not attend). Then he left messages saying he was looking for a job. For about 3 weeks he called every morning around 7 am sometimes leaving messages. I never returned the calls and thought he had gone away. Yesterday at 4am he left a message saying that he is trying to figure out where my area code is located. He is also trying to guilt me into calling him back by saying he just wants to make sure that I am OK because one time his sister didn't call him back and something had happened to her.

I am starting to get a little freaked out. He has not made any threats, but he has my first and last name.

Any advice?

Aggravated harassment, if you are afraid and he is making you fear for your safety that is what it is.

Fle a report and also contact your phone provider and have the number blocked.

Thanks Chief, I wasn't sure if it actually counted if there were no threats.

My phone provider's web site says they do not block calls but I am going to call them in the morning to see if they make exceptions.

Thanks Again for the advice,
Leslie

Post the number that keeps calling and rest assured that you won't be getting any more strange phone calls any more. :knockedou

Leslie - sorry you have had to deal with this. Ick.

After you block his number, maybe have a friend call and let him know under no uncertain circumstances that his continued attempts to harass you will result in prosecution of some sort?

I just feel like blocking his number does not entirely solve the problem.

Chief - weigh in on this please.

While as a last resort, you could change your number.

I had to do it, I just couldn't stand the telemarketers that had gotten hold of my number. Also, strange hang ups were occuring all the time. Leslie sorry for your trouble, the guy seems to have problems.

According to our homepage, we've got almost 3,000 members  Imagine just one phone call all night long from each of us. Some are not so quick to leave a pleasant message either ;)

Post his number L. We'll take care of the rest.

BTW, not all phone #'s will work (if they are unlisted it won't work) but you might want to try this website. They list reverse phone #'s. Enter the # and it might give you the name and address of the phone # owner.

Ink has a good idea. You can make a personal ad: Bi guy looking for a good time ect. and see how many weirdo's call him.
