Keep torre and get rid of cashman. Look at his track record for free agents. Hmm, pavano, randy johnson, jaret wright, kevin brown, jose contreas, igawa, etc...Thats 200 million down the drain. Stop getting people past their prime and go get a young stud.

ps Dont count the yankees out yet, there is still alot of baseball left to play and anything could happen.

i dont understand how clemens can make things worse.how bad are the yankees right now?i would say pretty bad.can it turn around?sure it can and clemens can do it.looking at his era with houston i gotta say the numbers dont lie.so he is 44 going on 45 we spent money on randay and he was a bust.i like clemens better.

This is what I took from when Yankees signed Clemens back. Beginning of the season, Bernie told Yankees that either he plays for Yankees again or he will retired. He believed that he is a Yankee player and he can't never play for any other team. And the Yankees couldn't signed him because he is just too old for this team. Their goal is for future and make it young again.

Now after little more than a month later, they went out and signed with the oldest pitcher in the league with unbelievable benefit and the record high $. And they announced it during the game, and tell Clemens welcome home. Hmmmm.

Is New York really Clemen's home? I am not a yankee fan, but I really respect Bernie Williams. This is Bernie's house, this is Jeter's house, this is Paul O'neil's house, this is Tino Martinez's house, but do you really think this is Clemens house? Welcome home?

I believe this is Team sports. If you turned down one of your own player because he is too old for this team. And you turn around and signed the oldest pitcher and with very greedy contract. There has to be some problem with the team work here.

Cashman Is the reason

Very few people here have hit it in the nose. Ive read about four post that agree with the truth. It ain't no one but cashman. He's the one that brought us randy, he's the one that brought abreu, and he's the one that is bringing back roger. Not steinbrenner, not mattingly, not torre and not the strength trainer, by the way that was pr, if hitters aren't hitting you fire the batting coach not the strength trainer he gets fired if the team falls under too many injuries.
Joe torre may not come back next year but if that a-hole cashman brings another man with more than 9 seasons into the yankees, the only yankees games I'm going to watch is the yearly old timers game.
I'll see if I get out an apology letter out to some of the team. I'll take a leave of absence till someone realizes cashman's stupid deals for old timers. He must be looking way past potential and straight to stats. Don't get me wrong they all have stats but they all have the potential to get worse not better. Except for the soriano a-rod trade he's bringing the team down and it's sad with all that money.

Mattingly should be the one fired. He is a loser and it is a loser organization as long as he is a part of it. They fired their strength and conditioning coach due to injuries, shouldn't they fire their loser hitting coach when all but 3 members of the team are in a "slump"?

you dont know much about baseball do you? much less the yankees?

first off Kevin Long is the current hitting coach and in my opinion he should be sent walking along with former conditioning coach. mattingly is Joes bench coach.

it's obvioius they had a horrible spring traing, all the injuries early in the season was a rsult of poor condiotioning I'm sure the miserable weather didnt help either. now you have a situtation where each individual has assummed the responsibility as the saviour, creating the team wide slump.

I agree cashman needs to go... Roger isnt the answer but tell me who is out there to help the yankees rotation? Roger by no means is a has been he's a born competetor and might very well give the yankees the mental edge they need . he's has a commanding presence (I've met him in person)

cash's first mistake was to push away Bernie, even if there was no room on the player roster he should have kept him to coach, bernie was well respected by the players and the fans and sometimes the glue that held the team together during tough times.

Loser organization? with all the injuriesthey suffered last year they still managed to put togther a strong season.
I'm a die hard yankee fan but most of a fan of the game of baseball

I'm not a Met nor a Red sox fan but you dont see me referring to them as loser organizations or any of thier players for that matter.

I could easily rip apart beltran for his caught "looking" in the final game of the NL final with 2 outs and bases loaded in a one run game.

A rod had a similar fate

have you ever played the game? can you hit a curve slider, or a sinker?
a 90 +mph fastball

it's a matter of time before the yankkees turn it around too much talent to roll over
now's not the time for major change other than cashman taking a place in the unemployement line

hopefully mattingly is talking to these guys hitting wise

With all the comments in this thread, why do you guys go after me when ever I make a comment about the Yankees? It's called an opinion. No one ever called me all that is right.
1978, Yankees win WS.
1979, Don Mattingly chosen in the 19th round by the Yankees.
Oct 1, 1995, Don Mattingly's last at bat in the majors.
1996, the Yankees first WS victory since 1978.
The strength and conditioning trainer WAS fired due to injuries to pitchers. I admit, I have been out of the loop and was unaware that they promoted this loser, but he is the problem... along with the what's his name hitting coach.

But you're shot at me was pretty weak. If I were to bash you and call you a know nothing, I'm sure it would be deleted by the mods very quickly. All I can say is that me and your boy Jack Pershing have been somewhere you have never been. You go Frogman. Real tough guy on the computer.
settle down it wasnt meant to bash you, just a response to your post, nor did I try to take a pot shot at you, sorry you took it that way. you dont know me, I dont know you, so accept my apology regarding. we're talking baseball nothing personnal

Great win for Yankees today. Congratulation to all Yankees fans here, I know we have few.

I hope this kind of game help Yankees to get back into their true potential.

Really nice rookie effort tonight, Yankees should've put a more faith on their own youngster than go out and sign someone totally unknown in Japan, hehe.

Goodluck on your future. Hopely our next subway series, Yankees are little closer to the first place in American league East.

I agree with you Savager.. They trade lots of young talent pitcher away.. and when they signed a player that past their prime with a big contract, they disappear.. Look at Pavano..

One game doesnt make a season.. but maybe this will be a turn around they need..
next 3 games with boston will make or break the season..

You are right, one game doesn't make a season especially they lost 2 out of three still. Yankee needs to start winning series from now on.

If Boston wins all 3 games, is it ok for me to think Yankees' winning East division is not possible? I know it's too early but 13 or 14 games behind, that's little too hard to over come even it's this early.

BTW, I really doubt Boston can win all 3 games though. Wang comes out tonight, Yankee has great chance to win. Atleast 2 out of 3 this week. Goodluck.

I'm not talking about the red sox or mets. This thread is not about them. The Yankees have a history of winning. Period. Anything less than a World Series Championship is failure to them. The mets post banners in Shea stadium when they won the wild card.
This isn't about beltran.
this isn't about a-rod.
Yes, I have hit 90+ fastballs, curve balls and sliders. Obviously, I wasn't as good at it as I hoped to be, otherwise I woulod have beenthere and not where I am. I'm sorry, do I have to be you to have an opinion.
Frank, this again is my opinion. Don't reply to me, don't send PM's apologizing. You are 100% right. You don't know me. You don't know the first thing about me. This is a discussion. If you choose to go after me, man up and don't do it over the computer.
