This is part 3 of the series:

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/nudibar/25033-my-cats-have-their-own-pets.html

The eggs hatched around Monday, this is the second time I have even been able to see the chicks without disturbing the family.

They were the size of marbles last week, somehow they are like 10x the size in under a week. The parents are very protective and go into a defensive posture when I get too close.

Congrats Josh!! :)
I used to have a pair of Mourning Doves, very sweet birds. Are you considering moving the babies indoors or leaving them free?
As Liz pointed out in her info, they are extremely great parents and are often used to raise the eggs of other birds who are lousy parents. They do however stink at nest building and most of the eggs are lost due to collapsing nests.

Keep those pics coming!!

No, I can't bring them inside. I have 3 cats that would appreciate that very much but I don't think they would be very good parents for the chicks.

I'm going to try my best to not scare the parents and hope that they will nest on my balcony again. From what I have read, they may stay in the same area to roost again soon. We haven't used the balcony much lately so if they want to make it their home it is fine with us.

I am on the 3rd floor and it is 4 floors to the ground so I hope they don't fall off before they can fly enough to slow their descent.
