The EDP was released from jail with a restraining order for him not to get near his son and his car and driving license taken away.
I was thinking to myself, should I get a restraining order for him not to get near my cafe to protect everyone here until his mental health or life gets better?
You have to remember a restraining order/order of protection is a piece of paper. This person is not stable, think he cares about a court order? Hey, you do what you think is right. But, I would be heading to the Sports Authority to get the biggest, fattest baseball bat.
He sent his friend as a messenger to apologise for what has happened. What does that mean? An apology only makes sense when a person is rational and mentally healthy. Is he capable of thinking right? If so, for how long. Can his mind stay clear everytime he passes by my cafe?
Apparently he is not capable of making correct decisions.
In a crisis, ppl just act differently. After the incident, I am expecting two types of responses from the neighbors:
(1) Accuse my cafe of not protecting their kids from harms way in my cafe or even hanging out in front of my cafe.
(2) Come to praise me for protecting their kids from harms way
but actually ONLY the third reactions show up-4 persons from the building that the EDP lives came to apologise. I was surprised. Why would they apologise for someone else' craziness only because an EDP lived in the building? I do not think they pushed him over to edge. If this happens again, I think the judge, the law enforcement and the doctors should apologise not the residents of the building. To me, human reactions to crisis are just unpredictable.
Just remember, if he is unstable of not, you have a right to protect yourself and others.
