Seriously though I don't think that there is a worse person in the US to "hit and run" than a State Governor.

On the other hand something seems a little odd with this story. Perhaps "they" were trying to kill him.

By "they" I of course mean (insert conspiracy theory here)

What's amazing is that the hit-and-runner got away, no plates, no description! As for Imus, who cares if that old dinosaur got fired, he deserved it. I, for one, would not want my daughter demeaned in a public forum heard by millions, although his ratings seemed to indicate there are far less listening. The dog and pony show he put on with Al Sharpton made everything worse, hearing him tell you all the black people he helped, etc. Its really time for all the insults racially and ethnically to stop, it makes us all feel uneasy when its our people that are affected.

I am by far an Imus fan. I think he's a Moron. However, people are demeaned in public all of the time every day by every body.

Nobody here has laughed at a Brittany Spears joke, or a Paris Hilton joke George Bush or even an Arod joke? Do you bad mouth ball players on the opposite team calling them names? I can say yes to all of these but these are all peoples sons daughters brothers sisters friends cousins and the like and every one of us has found amusement in them after they have been broadcast over the airwaves.

Hey there is a movie out there called Black Snake Moan I have never seen the movie but the commercial depicts a black man who chains up a white woman in his house, that might offend me but if I open my mouth I bet you the majority of people would disagree. Howard stern offends me everytime I see him, he is ten thousand times more sleazy and scummy than Imus could ever be.

Oh and has anyone here looked past the one sentence that got him fired? How many people thought the Tattoo's joke was funny? A friend of mine said it was hysterical (he's not white) and didn't get offended until all the publicity. He actually forgot about it until he saw the news and he admits that it didn't offend him at the time but only after he saw it a few times in the media.

Why cause someone picked up on it and exploited it for monetary reasons. Rappers talk about women like they are lower than whale sh!te in their songs and they are only good for sex (to put it into nice terms). Before you say you agree or disagree, see if by doing either one makes you a hypocrite.

I for one do not agree with his statements but if you're gonna fire him for statements like this you had better start firing other people for it. Entire Record labels could be in trouble, more radio shows, Mel Gibson could never make a dime on a movie again. I hope I have made you think a little on this subject and my prayers for a speedy recovery for the governor.

The difference is, the women of Rutgers do not put themselves in the spotlight, appear drunken, or expose their private parts like the people you mentioned in your post. The celebrities you mentioned all get paid a lot of money to endure the attention they cause themselves, and are in fact, perpetuate it. These college students did none of this to themselves, it was thrust upon them by a racist old fool who doesn't care at all if he hurts people. Also, just because other venues exploit race or sex or religion, that is not justification for this or any other injustice, that was Imus's lame excuse. Fix each problem one at a time rather then causing new ones because someone else did something bad. And for the record, I did NOT find anything funny about tattoo's or calling people hos or nappy headed, its hurtful and I thought most people stopped doing it in grade school.

I did not find it funny either, I am merely stating that if you are going to go after one person for senseless stupid racist comments then you must go after everyone equally. You have to be fair about it. What about the Duke College students? How come nobody has brought that up? They were arrested and wrongly prosecuted a clear violation of their civil rights.

I was at the supermarket one day and was attempting to cross the parking lot, I stopped for on coming traffic and this woman who was driving by slowed down, not to the point where I felt safe crossing, well I guess she forgot that her windows were open and she screamed at me "Cross the street you F&^%ing Cracker" I told her she was a racist and she laughed and said "that's impossible." Do you think I should have called the police, filed a report, called her job and got her fired?

Again, I am saying this, I think Imus is a MORON but I also am saying that if you are going to eliminate this from our society you need to be fair, there needs to be a line drawn in the sand and everyone who steps over that line needs to be dealt with the same way. Rappers, politicians, movie makers, actors, etc beware.

For the record again I am not an Imus fan. I am a Fairness fan.

I understand what you are saying, but it makes no sense in the fact you are defending one wrong action by saying there are others going on. Why not say lets fix them all, one at a time? I know that is a huge undertaking but it can at least start somewhere. Pointing out that you were wronged by someone for your race hardly excuses the actions of Imus or anyone else for doing the same to others. If we keep up with the mentality we all do it you will continue to have problems with race relations, think outside the box.

Mr. Chief

The above quote from your diatribe is all you really needed to say. The rest of your comment IMHO is BS. Bye-Bye DON. Thanks for saying what you said.

Well this is why this is a great country.. you dont have to agree with what he says.. but he has the right to say it.

I pesonally hate the guy.. never listened to him.. but he has the right to say what he wants without being fired..
If you dont like what he says just tune him out..

I really do think that the girls and team players on any team say worse stuff eachother on the court.

Mr. Chief

"I am by far an Imus fan."

I think you left out a "negatively inclined" word in your earlier thread. You may want to edit it.

"but he has the right to say what he wants without being fired.. "

Well Mr. Salesbig,
I guess you would be wrong in IYO. I guess others think and act differently than you think. God bless America. It's a wonderful country. Bye-bye Don.

No way.

Im a big Imus fan and it is outrageous that he was fired.

Where is feedome of speech? Under the 1st amendment of the consitiution?
Why did the "reverend" Sharpton get away with his racest comment?
People who may be offended- turn the station.
The comment was inapropriate and a 2 week suspension was called for, but definatly not firing.

He is a good man who helped a lot of kids of color who had cancer and many other kids with diseases and cancer

Now compare that with some stupid comment

By the way, Imus was not fired for what he said, but because his sponsors began dropping him one by one and the station tried to save face with them by offing him. Imus a good man? Do you know the tax write off's he gets for his ranch, which was under investigation a few years back. His wife is the one who pushes the health and childrens causes, before he married her he did nothing. And people who worked with him for years attest to his racist comments.

As for Al Sharpton, he is a bum too, an opportunist who exploits his people for fame and money, add Jesse Jackson into that mix too. They do good once in a while, but they have entirely different motives of self-promotion. See Tawana Brawley, Jackson's love child, et al. And I'll never see another Mel Gibson movie again, problem is, too many people still will.
