The display will cost you more than a new laptop. Buy a new one and swap the data to the new hard drive.
I don't recommend Dell, Toshiba, Hewlett Packshit, comcrap, Alienware (Dell in disguise). Buy an Asus notebook from one of the smaller vendors out there they are much better.
Mac can run windows, I know I have heard it I have seen it, so answer me this why is mac trying so much to be like a windows PC? I would only buy a Mac if I were in the graphic design or similar fields. Linux is great too and I use knoppix as a data recovery program because it can be installed and or run live on the cd. Game support for us gamers is nonexistent on these 2 Operating systems.
Vista is crap. Do not use it until at least service pack 1 comes out.
Wheel chock - a device wedged between the ground and the base of your tire to keep the vehicle from rolling away.
The fact is that 90% of the commercial computer market is windows based and supported and it is more widely recognized worldwide. It's like owning a jaguar in the 80's, great car but if something went wrong you had to have the parts shipped over from england and pay for the parts and the shipping and by then you had a car in the shop for way longer than you had anticipated.
