Anybody using MS Vista? Any feedback after a few weeks?

I need to buy a new puter and I'm not going with a Mac. Therefore, any PC being sold now has Vista on it. Am I asking for trouble? Has MS come out with any patches yet? What should I expect?

Thanks guru's,
Russ

It sucks and I hate it. I had to buy a new machine for the office and was stuck with Vista. Not only is everything moved making regular usage a pain but sharing with non Vista machines is a PIA and office for vista is incompatible with XP and prior versions.

Yes office XP on vista is fine because it is the office App that causes the issue not the OS. Purchasing a new computer you'd get Vista as your OS and as your office suite.

Did I mention that Office for Vista is horrible?

I did the upgrade to it on mine and quickly removed it after not finding any drivers that vista supports. Good thing it was free or i would be pissed.

Thats mainly the problems people have is upgrading their old comp to use vista and not finding drivers, or drivers that are out that are supposed to work that don't. OR if your running games your screwed unless you know how to work vista because the current version of vista doesn't support any games.

Other than that and misc crashes on certain setups Vista is great. You just can't be afraid of modifying things to make vista work for you.

...

I love the vista however 1 would need a preaty fast comp. for it to run smooth. It still has a lot of bugs with configurations and driver setups, like video and sound cards, but may be thats just my comp. I would sugest runnung xp for no wuntill vista is fixed compleatly.:biggrinpa

Are the problems you guys are finding with Vista inherent to installing it on an XP (or heaven forbid, older) driven system? I have to buy a new computer anyway. Will a new system with x, y and z hardware support this new OS?

If yes, then what x, y and z hardware should I be getting?

As Ernest and Julio Gallo once said, "we thank you for your support".

There are still new machines with XP on them or if the new PC has Vista Business or Ultimate you can downgrade to XP Pro. There is nothing that says you have to use Vista.
