Greeting from South Africa

For those that don't know, I am spending about a month in South Africa doing some research. But, I get to have some fun too!

Pretoria Zoo

South Africa Grassveld near Krugersdorp

Maropeng - oddest museum/hotel/restaurant ever. Building is based on the European tumulus, a type of burial mound. What that has to do with South Africa, I don't know.

Cheesy museum display from the 60s. The death of SK 54. It's a fossil skull cap with two sabre-tooth cat bit marks in it. Here, they have taken a leopard and stuck big fangs on it for this beautiful recreation.

Eeeeehh, not sure if I'm going to go great white shark diving. If Eric had been able to come out with me, then I probably would have gone. If I were going to go diving, I'd go to the north east coast, near Mozambique, and pick me up some gem tangs!

PS: Eric was not QUITE right. I'm actually headed to Jo'burg today for about a week, THEN to Cape Town for a week and a half.

Also, just so I'm clear - the bear, the flamingoes and the tiger were all at the pretoria zoo. More photos later!

Cape Town!

these were at the aquarium, but I'm seeing the wild ones on sunday!

They had FIVE great whites at the aquarium, including one baby. They also had tons of tropical fish as well as an entire tank full of false percs that a lot of the little kids were crowded around. But, my favorite part of the aquarium was this sign:

I thought all of my friends here at MR would get a nice chuckle out of that.

Yeah , and make sure you be carful - the great whites are known to and have been photographed and videotaped jumping out of the water for thier prey -

Nice shots, have a safe and fun time - when you get back, maybe your tank will have less corals in it?

The second batch is sweet. But i do question what are you doing in a zoo in africa? That is one of the most diverse continents there is. Go shoot some wildlife, lol. Have fun!

I would build schools and raise children-don't worry I would not try to breed them-I am only an aqua breeder. My mentor and professor worked in UN and had seen how many fortunes and misfortunes our peace cor at the time have built in Africa. The only meaningful "help" is to build education instead of stuffing our technology or idealology to them. In fact, I have sent money to support a TV episodes which is made to raise awareness of the conditions over in Africa inlcuding the natural resources changes in recent years.
