Everyone else has said it well so I don't have much more to add except to say 'don't leave'. It is a great hobby and I think if you left you would regret it deeply and be back sooner than you think.

Tony,

Don't leave.

I met you when I am at my downs financially and you are the only one in the board who helped me move my first SW tank without meeting me once. If you need help let me know. I get you side jobs or such in electronics or entertainment or even delivery. PM me about this.

I assumed your system is stable and properly setup by now, so the running cost would not be too much. Just hang it there.

If you become too worry about your live stock and starting to feel stressed instead of feeling relaxed. Just don't get any more stuff, even when they are free, until you are comfortable.

Tony I would pay a fine price for that purple coral in your avatar pic;)
I've been where you are and I decided to keep the tank because everything else told me not to get rid of it. Just imagine coming home to no reef... I couldn't do it. As suggested just leave things alone for a while. If you need to recoup some money you could always sell a frag pack. Keep in mind that the resale value of reef equipment is VERY low especially with all the cheap-asses on this site:biggrinpa

Bro, lets all meet up in SI and hit up a strip club, reefs and tits. trust me it solves things. :D

I disagree a bit with everyone else, I say if your really really sick of it, take a break, Ive almost been there w/ this upgrade and losing 90% of my stuff.

I tried to get kris out of it before w/ his 65g, he would be ok for awhile and go right back where he started, in the end the doubt of what your doing will drive u crazy its better to get it out of your system. He did and hes back with a renewed sense of what it is he exactly wants from his reefing experience.

And like I told Kris, some reefers were meant to be SPS'ers and others not so much, I know trying to be a BB SPS FLOW OVERPOWERED SKIMMER DUDE can be draining, maybe u need to do with ur tank exactly what you want to do with it. I am now, shiet im sandy :D

Either way I wish u well bro, follow ur heart, everything else is reversible, you can get it all back and come back better, its just money in the end

T,
What :iamwithst said is true. What happened with me was I got out of the hobby but still kept everything around. Lemme tell you looking at an empty tank sucks horribly. I went through a bunch of FW cycles, you remember the fancy goldfish bowl. I tried planted tanks too but nothing really filled the need to have a tank anymore.

Gotta say it again, just take ur time and think it thru. As you can see no one really wants to let you get out of the hobby just yet. Give it a few days, see how you feel monday morning. Just make you have yourself one hell of a weekend :D:birthday: :bunnies::Blurp:

Tony you have to do what's best for you now.
Asking people on a reef site if you should take down your tank is like asking a crack addict if they would put down the pipe for a few days.

setting up a new tank will not be hard if you keep all the equipment, you know how cheap (free) you can get livestock on this site.
you should be enjoying life at your age, not worrying and stressing over a hobby. if the tank does not fit your lifestyle now then don't make it a big deal, take it down and plan on having a tank in the future.

AGREED

so

If you become too worry about your live stock and starting to feel stressed instead of feeling relaxed. Just don't get any more stuff, even when they are free, until you are comfortable. And if the conditions of the tank cannot be maintained with your state of mind or such, then, just like Jhale said, take it down and enjoy something else.

Oh, come over to the Italian fair on 18th Avenue-lots of pretty girls dressing less than our girl friends would wear in the bedrooms. They want you to look at them more than your fish want you. Cheer up.

Hey T,

You do what you gotta do. We all dont know the circumstances surrounding you right now. There should be no reason why this hobby should burden you in any way. If you feel that you need to get out of it for a while then maybe you should. Just keep your equipment so when the time is right for you, you can get back without yet another burden. You know that we we all restock your tank when you are ready.

Just lurk around the site Kris style and continue to provide the support you have given everyone because that is very much appreciated by all.

What ever problems you are going through right now, just hang in there because that too shall pass.

Hey Tony,

You know what i just went through with my tank and all you guys including you help me through that time. I could only say that i decided to stay in the hobby which really put me in the same situation that you are in for the simple reason that everyone on this site really helped me with at least 75% of my new corals but in the meantime i could not see my tank so empty so i decided to buy a good amount of fish until the corals came. Then i also purchased some corals my self which put me a little in financial woes, but i am so happy that i stayed. i will chill with new additions until i can get back on my feet, (passing on that Super monti frag of ronen was like taking the crack pipe from right under a crackheads nose). 180gal tank is hard to restock but with mr's help i can say it's looking very nice right now. Anyway my point is when you grow a love to this hobby it seem's like you lose a part of you when it's no longer there. At least that how i felt. At the end, you and only you can make this decision. If you decide to leave and return when the time is right for you, you can count on me giving you a frag of every coral in my tank.

Good luck with you decision,

David

1 picture, several answers:

Jose can see where Tony's hand is. That's the same reason Tony's smiling and Alvin isn't. :lol2:
