My Plasma is also a Panasonic. The screen is glass. Since yours is scratched up already, may be you can try this? My parents had used this on their old picture frames...

LCD's picture to me is still not as warm as the plasma. Plasma's picture is more film like and life like. If I have to get another TV now, I would still get a plasma over LCD.
